2021 is gearing up to be a stellar year for Disney+ with the streamer's slate of upcoming movies and TV shows. After launching in late 2019, Disney has vowed to build up its streaming presence by directly competing with the industry's top services. With the help of brands like Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar, Disney+ certainly has the attraction factor, but in the end, it all comes down to quality content and market availability.

Aside from a packed back catalog of Disney classics, Disney+ celebrated its long-awaited launch by debuting the first-ever Star Wars live-action series, The Mandalorian. While the introduction of Baby Yoda stole headlines among the 2019 titles, the streaming service continued expanding its original content through 2020 with releases such as Diary of a Future President, The Right Stuff, Marvel's Hero Project, and SparkShorts. The service also welcomed new feature films like Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made, Stargirl, Black Beauty, Hamilton, and Soul. In addition, Disney+ subscribers were given the chance to view Mulan through Premier Access as it bypassed theaters.

The situation has caused many viewers to turn to streaming, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for a company looking to grow its subscription content.
