Disney Parks Introduces Affordable, Variable Pricing

Walt Disney World Resort offers customers new date-based flexible pricing options with the use of a soon-to-be-launched online platform. This will allow customers to choose their visitation dates in correspondence to their allotted budget while also preventing the possibility of overcrowding in the theme parks.

Prior to this change in pricing structure, Disney World only one-day passes offered seasonal rates, which technically have the same principle, but the latest model will link both single day and multiple day tickets prices to a specific date. The cost can go up or down depending on how packed that day is expected to be. Unlike airline and hotel tickets, however, the prices of passes for Disney World will not fluctuate once set. This news arrives shortly after the House of Mouse announced its 2019 lineup which include Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Toy Story Land, as well as the much-anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Announced on the Disney Parks' official blog site, the new offer would allow patrons to plan their trips easier online with the option to browse through different ticket prices based on dates and choose the perfect time to visit the theme park in accordance to their budgets."When guests are ready to purchase tickets online, they may use an interactive online calendar, which displays different prices based on the dates guests choose to visit and states tickets will need to be used during a specific time period. The calendar also allows guests to quickly see the lowest-priced days within a month." This means that a single day ticket may cost from $109 to $129 depending on how popular the day is projected to be. The same principle applies to other pass options as well.

Aside from the variable pricing format, the brand new feature will also provide guests with "overviews, travel tips from Disney Parks Moms Panelists and customized suggestions based on each guest’s personal preferences – helping guests make more informed decisions." Once tickets are booked, visitors can continue customizing the trip of their dreams online via My Disney Experience (which is also available via a mobile app). This more efficient way of planning a hassle-free Walt Disney World Resort vacation will be available on the website starting October 16.

This feature will be beneficial for both Disney Parks and its customers. Those who are planning for family trips but with a limited budget can choose to visit the attraction during the offseason. The same goes for those who don't have the time or patience lining up for attractions. Looking at it on the business side, this will ensure that the park has a steady stream of patrons the whole year, which will help them cover maintenance and other fixed costs in keeping the park open.
