New versions of the heroes and villains from some of the most famous animated movies of all time will be uniting in the upcoming Disney Mirrorverse, which is an action RPG for mobile devices bringing the Disney and Pixar multiverse together. Screen Rant recently attended an exclusive online event, where Disney Mirrorverse was revealed for the first time.

Disney Mirrorverse is a free-to-play game that is being developed and published by Kabam for mobile devices, and is set to launch in June. The story is set in a divergent universe, which stars the Disney and Pixar characters that fans recognize, but where they act as the Mirrorverse Guardians. The Mirroverse consists of familiar lands, such as Agrabah from Aladdin or Port Royal from Pirates of the Caribbean, but they have been altered by dark and light magic, which is reflected in the aesthetics of the game. The residents of the Mirrorverse are under threat from crystal-like monsters called the Fractured, and the Guardians must unite to stop them.

The story of Disney's Mirrorverse involves a sorcerer version of Mickey Mouse discovering the magical Stellar Mirror, which the Fractured wish to destroy in order to shatter the Mirrorverse. Mickey gathers the Guardians together to protect the Stellar Mirror. The Guardian versions of the Disney heroes and villains have new designs that evoke fantasy and sci-fi heroes, such as Belle from Beauty and the Beast being a mage with a staff that carries the Enchanted Rose, Sulley from Monsters Inc. using a suit of advanced armor composed of doors, and Maleficent from Snow White being more in tune with her dragon form, allowing her to transform in the middle of battle. A lot of work has been put into the visuals in Disney Mirrorverse, especially in terms of the new character designs, which show off different sides to these classic heroes and villains.

Disney Mirrorverse Battle

That's the premise of Disney Mirrorverse, but what about the gameplay? Disney Mirrorverse is an action RPG where the player brings three characters into stages to take on mobs of enemies. The player can switch between the characters at any time and use their special moves, which are linked to timers. Players will also be to use an auto-play option to let battles happen without their input. The combat is said to be easy to pick up but has enough depth to satisfy hardcore RPG fans.

Along with the Story Mode, there is an Alliance Mode, where players can work together to unlock event milestones, and the Tower of Troubles, where players face increasingly difficult mobs in exchange for better rewards. There is also a PvP mode of sorts, with the Dangerous Dungeons allowing players to compete against each other for unique prizes. Disney Mirrorverse will feature monthly updates, which will progress the story, add new characters and enemies,  and introduce new timed events with rewards. It's currently unclear what the monetization model for Disney Mirrorverse will be, whether it will be the gacha model, the battle pass model, the in-app purchase model, or all of the above.

Disney Mirrorverse has shades of Kingdom Hearts, with its crossover setting that unites the characters against a new enemy. It's clear that Kabam has put a lot of work into creating Disney Mirrorverse, creating a brand new setting that brings so many classic characters together and makes them suitable for a combat-focused video game, without losing the essence of why people loved them in the first place. Disney and Pixar fans will soon have a chance to try the game out for themselves, as Disney Mirrorverse is set to launch in June.
