Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Spider-Man #2

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Spider-Man, the MCU Spider-Man of Avengers Campus makes his official Spider-Verse debut. Following a miniseries that accompanied the opening of WEB SLINGERS at California Adventure, Disney's version of the MCU Wallcrawler makes a new appearance in the "End of the Spider-Verse" storyline. However, it's a tragically small role in this latest issue.

Complete with a brand-new suit for Avengers Campus, the backstory for this version of Peter Parker is essentially the same as in the MCU. In the story for the ride, Spider-Man has been invited by Iron Man to join the Worldwide Engineering Brigade aka W.E.B, a think tank of bright young minds where they can share ideas and innovate new technologies. In Peter's case, Spider-Man invents a self-replicating Spider-Bot that inadvertently multiples way too quickly, resulting in Peter needing riders' help to web up the out-of-control army of robots in an exciting virtual experience. Likewise, the Web of Spider-Man miniseries saw Spider-Man meeting his fellow young scientists and taking down holographic versions of his greatest villains.

Now, the new Spider-Man #2 from Dan Slott and Mark Bagley sees this particular theme park Spider-Man on the phone with Mr. Stark when he's alerted to a break-in at W.E.B. Entering the facility, the MCU Spider-Man doesn't have a chance as he's quickly attacked by a trio of corrupted heroes from the Spider-Verse. As such, the MCU Spider-Man of Avengers Campus only gets this brief cameo in "End of the Spider-Verse".

Things Are Not Looking Good For Disney's MCU Spider-Man

Following this attack, the final pages of the issue confirm Disney's MCU Spider-Man has joined the legions of Spiders who've all been corrupted by Shathra, the Spider-Wasp Goddess who seeks to replace the Great Web of Life and Destiny with her own Great Nest. Interestingly, the Spider-Man of the Playstation games created by Insomniac has been corrupted as well, another exciting appearance twisted by the growing darkness as the Spider-Verse nears its demise.

That being said, seeing such a major version of Tom Holland's Spider-Man making his way to a Spider-Verse crossover is pretty exciting, even if he's only in it as a hero for a little while. Although the Webslinger of Avengers Campus might be seen in future issues, it'll probably be as a foe going after the Chosen One that is the Spider-Man of Earth-616 and the few allies he had left. Spider-Man #2 is on sale now.
