Disney live-action remakes have been happening as far back as 1996's 101 Dalmatians, but they really got a second wind with the release of 2015's Cinderella. Cinderella was a huge critical and commercial success, and the film was an interesting remake as it changed very little from the original. The film's success led to Disney's modern strategy of doing beat-for-beat remakes of many of the company's animated classics. The Little Mermaid is the most recent, but it's far from the first, with Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Pinocchio, and more getting live-action remakes. A live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is next on the docket, with Disney finally remaking the company's first-ever feature-length animated film. The movie has been in development for some time, with rumors of the film being traced as far back as 2016. However, it seems that the remake, simply titled Snow White, is finally happening soon.

Disney's Snow White remake will star West Side Story actress Rachel Zegler in the titular role, with Gal Gadot playing the villainous Evil Queen. Not much else is known about the film, including the casting of the titular Seven Dwarfs. However, more details are sure to be revealed about Disney's Snow White remake closer to release.

Disney's Snow White remake currently has a release date of March 22, 2024, meaning that the movie is less than a year away. Brief previews of the Snow White remake were shown at the D23 Expo, with attendees getting a look at Snow White, her cottage, and Gal Gadot's Evil Queen. It seems as if Snow White is finally coming together, gearing itself up for a 2024 release date.

Some fans have been wondering if Snow White will get delayed from its March 2024 release date due to the Writers Guild strike that is currently going on as of the writing of this article. The strike shouldn't directly affect Snow White, as it wrapped filming in July 2022. However, it is still possible that Disney could push back the film to patch up gaps in the release calendar caused by the strike. Either way, Snow White is almost guaranteed to be the next Disney live-action remake that is released.
