Disney's Lilo & Stitch is one of their greatest movies, blending science fiction with a hearty and emotional family story is something that managed to work perfectly. While Lilo provides great comedy with her sassy one-liners, and the Elvis Presley music in the background brings some great musical moments, the movie also features a lot of smart characters.

Whether it be the characters from space or those born on Earth, there's a great mix of personalities and intelligence on display throughout the movie. While some characters aren't as smart as others, that is what provides the movie with real balance, with everyone being unique, but one has to be the smartest.

Stitch

Stitch might be the most popular character from this movie, but he certainly isn't the smartest. While he is created to be simply destructive, he isn't made to be smart, which is why he is ultimately the least intelligent within the entire movie.

However, the fact that Stitch only knows about pure destruction at the start of the movie makes him such an interesting character. He is someone who learns throughout the story, which is enjoyable to watch, as he adapts to the human way of life learning everything from scratch.

Mertle Edmonds

Mertle Edmonds and her friends on their tricycles in Lilo & Stitch

Mertle is only a supporting character in the movie, shown during Lilo's dance classes. However, she's not shown in the greatest light and her bullying tactics don't make her seem like the smartest individual. Mertle is very narrow-minded and she treats Lilo with real disrespect throughout the movie when they're together.

She doesn't see things from other perspectives and that is ultimately why she's not one of the smarter characters within this story. Because she's only seen in small sections of the movie, Mertle's full personality isn't showcased, but it is clear by how quick she is to judge others that she's not smart enough to see things from other points of view.

Pleakley

Pleakley looking at himself in the mirror in Lilo & Stitch

Pleakley is the main comedic element of this movie, and because of that, he is often showcased to not be very smart. He makes mistakes and gets things wrong from time to time, but he does have a good knowledge of Earth, which is something that serves him well.

He inadvertently helps Lilo and Stitch throughout the movie at various points by trying to protect the mosquito chain, and in that he does make some smart decisions. However, he is ultimately in the movie to provide comedy and a big reason for that are the silly things he comes out with.

David

David might be one of the adults that are shown on Earth, but he's not always the smartest character. He makes quick decisions at times and acts before he thinks, trying to impress Nani, which is showcased when he sets himself on fire when trying to do the dance with flames.

He is quite clumsy at times and can be easily confused, which is why he's not one of the smartest characters in the movie. However, David does have one of the biggest hearts, and his kindness for Nani and Lilo is clear to see.

Lilo

Lilo might only be a young girl, but she is fairly mature for her age in some respects. She has great knowledge of all things Elvis Presley, and she is smart enough to truly understand the meaning of family and togetherness, which showcases real intelligence.

While there are moments in the movie where she clearly just acts like a child, overall she is a tremendous judge of character and for someone so young, that's impressive.

Captain Gantu

Gantu is the captain of the Galactic Federation, and being in that type of position is something that clearly requires a certain level of intelligence. He is efficient at his job, which is shown when he gets to Earth and captures Stitch immediately, however, he does rely heavily on his brute force.

He's not someone who thinks before he acts, which is something that does limit him at points from being even more intelligent. However, his knowledge of the galactic world is certainly impressive.

Nani

Nani is in a difficult point in her life during this movie, but the manner in which she tries to balance everything does show her smartness. She works hard to try to provide for Lilo, no matter how tough things get, and that is something that isn't easy.

She is good at making quick decisions and thinking on her feet, and the fact she can bounce from different jobs also highlights her intelligent decision-making. She's thrust into a position of being a parent without expecting it, but she handles it with quality and that is what makes her such a smart character.

Cobra Bubbles

Cobra Bubbles in Lilo and Stitch

Cobra Bubbles is the social worker for Lilo, and he quietly watches everything that is going on, analyzing and making his thoughts known when needed. He's calm under pressure and understands the severity of situations and the emotions involved, which is an impressive trait.

Bubbles is also a former CIA agent, and that showcases the intelligence that he has, even though it isn't fully explored within the movie. However, the way he's able to interact with different characters and change his style to suit them is a sign of intelligence, and there's no doubt he is one of the smartest in the movie.

Jumba Jookiba

Jumba from Lilo and Stitch

Jumba Jookiba might often be shown in a comedic fashion alongside Pleakley, but he is actually one of the smartest characters in the movie. He's seen as someone who is quite mad in the movie for creating Stitch, but the fact that he was able to make him really highlights just how smart he is.

Jumba is brilliant at observing Stitch throughout the movie, noticing all of his changes and what that could mean for him as an individual as he becomes closer to Lilo. Jumba might be a little loud and erratic, but he's clever.

Grand Councilwoman

Overall, the most intelligent character in Lilo & Stitch is the Grand Councilwoman, who is in charge of the Galactic Federation. She oversees everything that is happening in the galaxy and is the character that everyone looks to for leadership and wisdom.

She can be harsh, yet fair at the same time, and that's something that highlights her intelligence as she doesn't make snap decisions or judgments. The fact she's in charge of so much is the obvious sign that the Grand Councilwoman really is the smartest of them all.
