Justin Theroux is in final talks to star in Disney’s live-action/CGI remake of Lady And The Tramp. Following the success of Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book and Bill Condon’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney continues to re-imagine more and more of their classic animated films as live-action/CGI movies, including titles like Dumbo and Aladdin.

Another tale getting the live-action treatment is Lady and The Tramp, which contrary to the rest, will skip theaters and go straight to Disney’s streaming service (expected to launch in Fall 2019). Lady and The Tramp is already putting its team together, with Charlie Bean (The LEGO Ninjago Movie) onboard as director and Andrew Bujalski in charge of the script. It seems Disney has already found one of the film's main stars, too.

Collider reports that Theroux is in final negotiations to voice the Tramp (voiced by Larry Roberts in the 1955 animated film), while the studio keeps searching for their Lady. Theroux will be joining Ashley Jensen (Ugly Betty) who is lending her voice to Jackie, a gender-swapped take on Jock, the Scottish Terrier who lives next door to Lady.

Theroux has been working non-stop of late, both in front of the camera and as a voice actor. Among his more recent projects are next week's action-comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me, as well as this December's biographical drama On the Basis of Sex and Bumblebee, where he lends his voice to Dropkick. Theroux previously worked with Bean in The LEGO Ninjago Movie, where he voiced Lord Garmadon, the Dark Ninja.

Lady and The Tramp was released in 1955, and was the 15th Disney animated feature and the first animated feature filmed in the CinemaScope widescreen process. Based on Ward Greene’s story Happy Dan, The Whistling Dog, the story follows a female American Cocker Spaniel named Lady, who lives a comfortable life with an upper-middle-class family, and a male stray mongrel called the Tramp. After some tense circumstances lead Lady to escape, she meets Tramp and a romance begins to blossom.

It was previously reported that Disney is looking to cast people of color for this film, in an effort to modernize the story for modern audiences. It's only a matter of waiting now to find out who will be voicing the other non-human characters in the film - especially Lady - and, of course, who will be playing the human roles of the story, namely Lady’s owners and Aunt Sarah.
