Disney's Haunted Mansion reboot has added Loki's Owen Wilson. The upcoming feature is not a remake of the 2003 version starring Eddie Murphy, but rather a new take on Disneyland's original ride. This follows suit with Disney's recent Jungle Cruise movie starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Emily Blunt. Disney also intends to make a series of other films inspired by its amusement park's rides.

According to THR, Wilson has been cast in Disney's Haunted Mansion reboot, though it's unclear what his role will be at the moment. So far, only two other A-list actors have been named: Tiffany Haddish and LaKeith Stanfield. Haddish will play a psychic who can speak with the dead, which will almost certainly come in handy considering all the ghosts set to appear in the haunted mansion. Meanwhile, Stanfield will play a tour guide who once had a connection with the spirit world, but lost it once his wife passed away and joined the other side.

While the sci-fi Disney+ series Loki is his most recent credit, Wilson has a strong background in comedy, along with co-star Haddish. It's clear that even if director Justin Simien (Dear White People, Bad Hair) and writer Kate Dippold want to lean into the horror aspects of the mansion, these actors will give it a strong comedic flair. In fact, it's likely that the film will have a similar tone to the Ghostbusters reboot Dippold worked on. Meanwhile, Stanfield's background largely consists of dramas like Judas and the Black Messiah, and even thrillers like Get Out and Sorry to Bother You. More will be revealed about how these very different actors will come together in Haunted Mansion once filming begins next month in Atlanta, Georgia.
