When it comes to the realm of animated movies, Disney and DreamWorks are certainly among the biggest heavy hitters. Earlier this month, we released a detailed list featuring over a dozen new Disney movies currently in development. Next up, Disney is set to release a slew of live-action movies on the horizon. In March, director Tim Burton is slated to release his version of the beloved animated classic, Dumbo, and just recently, new images from the upcoming live-action Aladdin film were revealed, including a sneak peek at Mena Massoud as the titular character, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, and Will Smith’s version of The Genie. Fans also recently got a closer look at the upcoming live-action version of The Lion King, and much to everyone’s relief, Disney has confirmed that the film won’t be a shot-for-shot remake of the original. While the Mouse House is undoubtedly on top, DreamWorks has their own list of films that were surprisingly successful.

While we’ve already taken a look at unexpected DreamWorks couples and Disney pairings, we decided to look at an intriguing combination of the two. Arguably one of the more obscure fandoms in existence, we have to admit, we were more than a little surprised to see such a copious amount of fan art devoted to Disney and DreamWorks crossover couples. While conducting our research, one of the most popular couples was Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians and Elsa from Frozen, but How to Train Your Dragon's Hiccup and Brave's Merida were certainly a close second. By creating this list, we journeyed to the darkest depths of the interwebs, frantically scanning DeviantArt for some of the most unusual and unexpected pairings. Here we are, bringing to you 22 Fan Redesigns Of Unexpected Disney And DreamWorks Crossover Couples.

Hiro & Baymax (Big Hero 6) and Hiccup & Toothless (How To Train Your Dragon)

In quite possibly one of the coolest crossovers ever, digital artist RebeccaCH96 has brought two beloved animated characters together. While many will undoubtedly remember Hiccup and Toothless with their adventures in How To Train Your Dragon, Disney fans might be more partial to Hiro and the lovable puffy robot, Baymax, from Big Hero 6.

On the left, Hiccup and Toothless face off against Hiro and Baymax, on the right. Smiling, both characters seem to be on amicable terms, but we have to admit, an actual battle would be pretty darn cool. How to Train Your Dragon 3 hits theaters February 22, 2019, while the major cast of Big Hero 6 will return for the release of Kingdom Hearts 3 next month.

Tulio (The Road to El Dorado) and Meg (Hercules)

Originally voiced by comedian Kevin Kline, DreamWorks fans will remember Tulio as the lead from The Road to El Dorado. In the film, Tulio is linked with Chel, but in this imaginative fan art, one fan decided to pair Tulio with a certain Disney character. Officially named Megara, the femme fatale is often remembered from the animated Disney film, Hercules.

With this pairing, DeviantArt user TheMusicGal17 has created an aww-worthy image of Tulio with the lovely Meg. In the image, Tulio seems to be looking out into the distance, while Mug gently gives him a hug, smiling ear to ear with laughter. Sorry to say, looks like you’ll have to watch out for this one, Hercules!

Merida (Brave) and Jack (Rise Of The Guardians)

Given the wild popularity of Jack Frost and Elsa shippers, this image is bound to ruffle a few feathers. In a touching photo, digital artist Hubedihubbe has created a simple portrait of Jack Frost dancing with Merida, from Disney's animated film, Brave.

In the film, Merida is bold and defiant, and hardly in a rush to get married. In this unusual twist, a fan has paired her off with Jack from Rise of the Guardians, and the pair appear to be enjoying themselves by dancing. While most other images on this list feature Jack with Elsa, or Merida with Hiccup (from How to Train Your Dragon), we just wanted to make sure to include this pair, just for kicks.

Toothless (HTTYD) and Stitch (Lilo and Stitch)

Toothless and Stitch are undoubtedly some of the most devious animated characters in recent years. While we could have easily pieced together a list focusing on these two alone, we wanted to highlight an adorable piece from DeviantArt user TsaoShin. Fully created with Adobe Photoshop, this digital art piece is designed to tug at your heartstrings.

In this image, the powerful Night Fury known as Toothless has decided to take things in a totally new direction. The dragon is shown wearing a bright blue onesie, complete with a fuzzy scarf, and a hat in the shape of Stitch. Originally from Disney's beloved animated film, Lilo and Stitch, the alien counterpart is featured front and center with this piece. Stitch, dressed as his new friend, Toothless, is wearing a complete black onesie that's designed to look just like the bold dragon. In the image, Stitch has his arms outstretched, ever-so-politely offering Toothless a fish.

Flynn Rider (Tangled) and Fiona (Shrek)

For years, DreamWorks' animated classic, Shrek, has captivated the imagination of fans. In the original film, Princess Fiona is introduced as a fiery redhead (who loves piña coladas and getting caught in the rain), but as we know with fan art, literally anything goes.

With an amusing take on medieval-themed movies, the Shrek film features the fair Fiona, and in this fan art, digital artist angeelous-dc has paired her with Flynn Rider from Tangled. While Flynn seems to be seriously wrapped up in his story, Fiona looks to be less than amused. Interestingly enough, it looks like Rapunzel's hair didn't quite make the cut, and her blonde locks are shown in the bottom right of the image. Yikes! Looks like we don’t want to stick around for this one, and we better get moving on to the next image.

Tigress (Kung Fu Panda) and Judy Hopps (Zootopia)

Although Toothless and Stitch are arguably one of the most adorable and mischievous Disney and DreamWorks crossovers, it's safe to say that Tigress and Judy wouldn't be far behind. Tigress, originally from Kung Fu Panda, is often represented as the film's voice of reason, and Judy Hopps of Zootopia seems to share similar qualities.

In Disney's Zootopia, the film explores ideas of race relations, and we're happy to see a tiger and a rabbit happily getting along. In this photo, by DeviantArt user TungstemWillow, Tigress is holding up Judy on her palm, and the pair appear to be making some plans of their own. Sealing the deal with a fist bump, we wonder what these two are up to…

Sinbad (Legend Of The Seven Seas) and Ariel (The Little Mermaid)

Starring Brad Pitt, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Joseph Fiennes, DreamWorks had set high hopes for the 2003 animated film, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas. Unfortunately, the film didn't quite measure up in the box office and only cashed in at a measly $80.7 million, despite having a $60 million budget.

In the film, actor Brad Pitt voices Sinbad, and one DeviantArt user (isamisa) has decided to pair him up with a certain redheaded Disney princess. No, we’re certainly not talking about Merida, but in this image, Sinbad appears to be with The Little Mermaid's Ariel. “Nothing more to say! I paired them since Sinbad is a pirate and Ariel is a mermaid and... pirates tend to find often beautiful mermaids in their journeys!” The artist wrote in the description.

Hiro/Baymax (Big Hero 6) and Hiccup/Toothless (HTTYD)

Hiro Hamada, from Big Hero 6, and Hiccup, from How To Train Your Dragon, might be from totally different worlds, but the two characters share more in common than one might think. For one, both of the boys are reluctant heroes and each of their respective films explores their struggle to stand up for what's right. Both characters also have adorable sidekicks, with Hiro's lovable marshmallow-like robot, Baymax, by his side, and the dragon named Toothless as Hiccup's counterpart.

In this image, digital artist kadeart has created a super cute rendition of Hiro and Hiccup crossing paths. While the two introduce themselves to one another, an intrigued Toothless poses up question marks towards Baymax in the background. Sure, San Fransokyo might be miles away from the Viking Village of Berk, but with fan art, anything’s possible.

Toothless (HTTYD) and Mushu (Mulan)

Sure, Toothless and Stitch might be ranked as one of the most compatible duos in the Disney and DreamWorks crossover fandom, but Toothless and Mushu are a close second. Voiced by comedian Eddie Murphy, nearly every Disney fan can instantly recall Mushu as Mulan's sidekick in the animated film.

In this piece by Lucky978, the spirit realm from Mulan and the Viking Village of Berk collide. A traditional piece, this image features soft watercolors and includes an image of Toothless resting a large paw on top of Mushu's head, much to his dismay. Given the giant size difference, we wonder how the power dynamic might play out with this one. With rows of comments below the image, one fan enthusiastically announced that these are her two favorite dragons together, and thoroughly complimented the artist's work.

Hiccup (HTTYD) and Anna (Frozen)

Featuring the bubbly voice of Kristen Bell, many Disney fans fell in love with Anna upon her arrival in the 2013 Disney hit, Frozen. DeviantArt user smitth has decided to bring together two unexpected characters, including Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon, and Anna, the Princess of Arendelle.

With a soft, dreamy style, the artist has featured Hiccup pining for Anna, complete with a slight blush on his cheeks, while Anna coyly looks over at the Viking warrior. “I am sailing away forever with this ship,” the artist wrote in the caption. With rows of comments below, it seems as though many other fans are in favor of the pair, affectionately known as “Hicanna.”

Shang (Mulan) and Miguel (The Road to El Dorado)

While we were crafting this list, we certainly ran into our fair share of obscure pairings, featuring minor characters of otherwise beloved animated films. In this piece by identity511, one fan has decided to mash up two classic films: Mulan and The Road to El Dorado.

This piece of fan art highlights the famous general, Shang, from Mulan, looking angrily at Miguel, of El Dorado fame. Although the artist left the image's caption blank, several other fans have taken the liberty of writing out some creative commentary. While some fans have pictured this playing out at a school camp, others simply wondered what on earth Miguel must have done in order to make Shang so angry.

Rapunzel (Tangled) and Hiccup (HTTYD)

In this image, DeviantArt user DarkMousyxKagome has decided to bridge the worlds of Disney and DreamWorks with a pretty believable pairing. This fan art piece, entitled “... From a Viking's Heart,” depicts Rapunzel, from Tangled, seemingly troubled, and a rather wistful looking Hiccup, of How To Train Your Dragon.

Affectionately known as “Hiccunzel,” the pairing has amassed fans from both the Disney and DreamWorks fandoms. Due for an upcoming February 2019 release, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World will reunite fans with the continuing adventure of Hiccup and Toothless. While we all know that Rapunzel is typically found with Flynn Rider, and Hiccup and Astrid, not every fan of Disney and DreamWorks might approve of this one.

 Merida (Brave) and Astrid (HTTYD)

Earlier, we looked at a pretty believable friendship between Hiro Hamada and Hiccup, and we also found one with a similar vein. In this image from kuronoyousei, Merida, is linked with gal pal Astrid from How to Train Your Dragon. The pair appears to be all smiles, and Astrid has her arm hanging loosely over Merida's shoulder.

In the full image, Astrid says: “Arrows and bows, huh? Wanna teach me later?” as Merida appears to have a thumbs up in reply. While many fans loved this piece, one fan in particular shared a poignant thought, “...Wish girls in movies would be more like Merida and Astrid, kick butt awesome females.” We have to agree, and we look forward to seeing Astrid back on the silver screen in February!

Chel (The Road to El Dorado) and Kuzco (The Emperor's New Groove)

DeviantArt user chocolatecherry has captured the full essence of a Disney and DreamWorks crossover's dream: Kuzco and Chel. With pages of comments below the image, many fans remarked how they never would have thought of such a great crossover pairing. Chel, the wide-eyed beauty from The Road to El Dorado, has been a fan favorite for years.

In the image, Emperor Kuzco, of Disney's The Emperor's New Groove, is shown gleefully embracing Chel. Artfully done, the image looks pretty believable overall, complete with Chel winking her eye at the Emperor. As with many of these fan art pieces, the sky’s the limit. Given the character’s personalities, Chel and Kuzco would be an amusing pair, for sure.

Po (Kung Fu Panda) and Nick Wilde (Zootopia)

Earlier, we saw a devious pair up between Tigress and Judy Hopps, so it seems only fair to look at another furry match up. In this piece by kazerxestelaris, the protagonist of Kung Fu Panda looks over awkwardly at Nick. While we all know and love comedian Jack Black's beloved character, Po, he certainly looks a bit uncomfortable as he takes a quick glance at the fox.

Nick Wilde, who was one of the main characters of Zootopia, looks out into the distance with confidence. Imaginative as ever, some fans chimed into the comments regarding Po's uncomfortable stance, stating that Po might be wondering why Nick has no clothes. We’ll leave the subject of that debate to you as we move on to the next list item.

Rapunzel (Tangled) and Jack Frost (Rise of the Guardians)

In the realm of Disney and DreamWorks crossover pairings, Jack Frost and Hiccup certainly take the cake. Many fans have been quick to pair off Jack with Elsa, and Hiccup with Merida, but occasionally, there have been some fan art pieces featuring the boys with other Disney characters.

Early on, we already took a peek at Hiccup and Rapunzel, and this time, digital artist angeelous-dc has decided to pair up Jack Frost and the Disney princess. In the photo, Rapunzel looks excitedly at a purple scroll, while Jack Frost smiles above her shoulder. Given the amount of love for Jack Frost and Elsa, this one might only have a few fans out there, but we thought we’d add it into the mix for fun.

Pocahontas (Pocahontas) and Spirit (Stallion of the Cimarron)

Although it seems like the majority of fan art out there revolves around traditional romantic couplings, sometimes there’s a few imaginative pieces that are totally original. In a seriously imaginative piece, digital artist lvxferre has taken Disney princess Pocahontas and paired her up with a special DreamWorks character, Spirit.

The artist took things a step further, creating an elaborate backstory that inspired the piece. After watching the destruction of the Earth, Pocahontas makes a vow to become stronger and protect her people. As the artist writes: “...she encounters Spirit's desolated soul wandering in his ugly and dirty modern homeland, Spirit sees in her the eagle of liberty that he has always followed, so he agrees with her idea and they… convoke every soul to start a rebellion against the modern world.”

Pitch (Rise of the Guardians) and Elsa (Frozen)

In this imaginative piece by Ymirr, the artist has paired Elsa with Pitch from Rise of the Guardians. In this evocative piece, the artist has created a digital painting that's bound to cause a reaction from fans. When one fan created a detailed description of a piece they'd always dreamed of, digital artist Ymirr decided to deliver.

The fan imagined Elsa and Pitch together and had envisioned a “twisted romantic tragic” scene that reminded them of The Phantom of the Opera. With an incredible amount of detail, the artist has made a rendition of Pitch embracing Elsa, while the ice queen looks behind her with curiosity and surprise. The background is dark and full of shadows, while Elsa remains as the focal point, complete with her blue colored gown.

Rafiki (The Lion King) and Master Monkey (Kung Fu Panda)

While many of the animal-themed fan art pieces have been outright adorable, this one is certainly bound to make fans smile. Take a walk on the wild side with this fun fan art image. DeviantArt user NostalgicChills has created a mashup featuring Rafiki and Master Monkey.

While both characters employ a zen-like personality, it seems like Master Monkey is getting some inspiration from Rafiki here. In the fan art piece, both characters are shown crosslegged, with both hands outstretched in a meditative pose. While it remains to be seen which character is the other one's mentor, this is definitely a unique pick that stands out from all the rest.

Merida (Brave) and Hiccup (HTTYD)

In Disney's hit animated film, Brave, Merida boldly declared that she needed a spell to seal her fate. In this sweet photo from digital artist juliajm15, the fiery warrior Princess has fallen under a different kind of spell, looking happily in love with Hiccup.

While the Viking warrior might be in a totally different animated universe, many have drawn parallels between the two characters and aren't afraid to express their love for the pairing. In the original film, How to Train Your Dragon, Hiccup is linked closely with his Viking comrade, Astrid, but fan art allows for the most unexpected things to happen. In this piece, Merida is playfully adjusting Hiccup's hat, who looks at her with a big smile.
