The holiday season is nearly here, and with Disney Dreamlight Valley's Toy Story update, it looks like players will be able to get festive alongside their favorite Disney and Pixar characters this year. Gameloft is gifting fans with "Missions In Uncharted Space," an update that is not only massive but also free. It comes with an onslaught of refreshing content that adds several hours of playtime, as well as improving existing gameplay.

The life simulation game, though still in early access, has seen steadily positive feedback since its release in September. Many fans have been enjoying its nostalgic atmosphere and peaceful gameplay as they explore, customize, and meet all of Disney Dreamlight Valley's characters for themselves. No game is perfect, however, and some players have raised concerns about quality-of-life features they'd like to see added. Luckily, the update offers several community-inspired changes alongside a collection of fresh and exciting content.

Missions In Uncharted Space introduces two beloved characters from the Toy Story universe into Disney Dreamlight Valley. Woody and Buzz Lightyear can be found in a new (and appropriately sized) Realm, set in a familiar bedroom from Toy Story 4. Completing the associated quests allows players to build Buzz's RV and Woody's carousel, unlocking them as town residents.

Although not as obvious an addition as other characters omitted from Disney Dreamlight Valley would have been, there's a third (and mischievous) character that fans can also add to their Valley. Lilo And Stich's adorable alien, Stitch, has seemingly been wreaking havoc around town, and it's up to the player - alongside an irritated Donald Duck - to put an end to the madness. The quest to unlock Stitch requires waiting for a few days, so players haven't been able to unlock him just yet, but the Missions In Uncharted Space update trailer on YouTube points to him as the ultimate culprit.

Festive Content Brings Holiday Joy With Disney Dreamlight Valley's Update

To celebrate winter, Disney Dreamlight Valley's update has arrived with an impressive collection of fittingly-themed cosmetics. Players can enjoy new festive recipes, such as gingerbread cookies and yule logs, on top of Disney Dreamlight Valley's already-extensive recipe list. The Wardrobe has also been equipped with new customizable clothing, accessories, and makeup, which players can use to create their perfect holiday outfits.

Much like Disney Dreamlight Valley's villain-themed Star path, the new festive-themed Star Path doesn't disappoint - offering players on both the Free and Premium tracks a range of motifs, clothing, decor, and more. In fact, for the very first time, appearance customization has been extended for the residents of Dreamlight Valley. This season's Star Path includes "Dreamlight Styles," with the two alternative outfits being offered for Merlin and Mickey. Merlin's "Festive Merlin" outfit is available on the Premium track at Tier 5, whereas Mickey's "Merry Mickey" skin can be unlocked for free on Tier 6.

In addition to fresh gameplay and cosmetics, Disney Dreamlight Valley's Toy Story update also introduces several quality-of-life changes, which were brought to the attention of Gameloft by the player base. For example, some fans have been voicing their disappointment about the game's real-world clock, which adjusts the time of day in-game to match the player's time zone, but with Missions In Uncharted Space, players can now change the visual appearance of their Valley to daytime or nighttime. While this isn't the same as time travel, it's a nice aesthetic perk that allows everyone to experience the sunset, sunrise, and everything in between.

Players have also been granted to opportunity to upgrade their tools even further as the Pickaxe, Shovel, Watering Can and Fishing Rod can now be enchanted to Miracle status. After crafting the appropriate Miracle potion and applying it to the desired tool, it will see a temporary increase in efficiency over the next five uses. Players can even take it a step further and craft the ultimate upgrade to Disney Dreamlight Valley's Shovel and the rest of the tools with Even More Miraculous enchantments. Other feedback-based changes, such as the addition of the Memory Frame and the ability to toggle lights on and off, have also been included.

Bug Fixes Stabilize Disney Dreamlight Valley

Last but certainly not least, several gameplay improvements have been incorporated into Disney Dreamlight Valley's update. Although there are still glitches and issues, a sizable portion of annoying bugs, which can be found listed on the game's Steam page, have since been squashed in Missions In Uncharted Space. One glitch was preventing players' avatars from looking into the camera during Selfie mode - but this has now been resolved, turning previously awkward photos into picture-perfect moments. Another frustrating bug prevented Critters from showing up in a player's collection; after updating their game and feeding and befriending Critters in Disney Dreamlight Valley, they will now assuredly be added to the Collection menu.

Technical difficulties were remedied with Missions In Uncharted Space as well, improving game compatibility and optimization across platforms. According to the patch notes on Steam, Gameloft expresses that they "put a considerable focus on optimizing the experience on Nintendo Switch," which has seen some performance issues with Disney Dreamlight Valley since launch. The game is now also compatible with the Steam Deck, which gives players another portable option to play from. Other general optimizations should improve loading times, stabilize frames, reduce memory usage, and more for a much smoother play of this early access game.

The Missions In Uncharted Space update is generous as it is, but it looks like Gameloft isn't stopping there. With "more surprises to come later," players should seemingly look forward to even more changes in the near future. But in the meantime, Disney Dreamlight Valley's update has given players plenty to do this holiday season.
