One of the friendship quests players can unlock in Disney Dreamlight Valley is A Fishy Dispute, which tasks players with resolving a minor dispute between Goofy and his rather temperamental buddy Donald Duck. Players spend a lot of their time in Dreamlight Valley restoring their sleepy little hamlets and journeying to many different realms to bring back the valley’s former inhabitants. However, one key part of the game is building friendships with these characters and in the case of Donald Duck, this even extends to ensuring that some sense of harmony is maintained between him and his fellow villagers. Luckily, unlike quests to unlock characters such as Frozen’s Princess Anna in Disney Dreamlight Valley, A Fishy Dispute is actually fairly easy for players to resolve.

A Fishy Dispute is a friendship quest that players unlock when fulfilling a few set requirements. Players must first have reached Friendship Level 4 with Donald Duck and have unlocked the Sunlit Plateau biome west of the main village. It’s highly recommended that players looking to quickly build up a friendship have Donald accompany them as they journey around the island as they forage, fish, and mine for resources. Unlocking the Sunlit Plateau is considerably more time-consuming, as players need a total of 7,000 Dreamlight to remove the Night Thorns blocking the path to the plateau. Focusing on daily Dreamlight tasks is a great way to get lots of Dreamlight quickly.

It almost goes without saying that players should have actually unlocked Donald Duck and Kristoff in Dreamlight Valley, as Donald needs to be back in the village before players can start helping him out. Completing his first friendship quest by helping him restore his houseboat on Dazzle Beach is also a must, particularly for the friendship points players get for completing it.

How To Complete A Fishy Dispute In Disney Dreamlight Valley

Disney Dreamlight Valley A Fishy Dispute Goofy And Donald Duck

Once players have completed all the requirements, they should chat with Donald. He’ll tell players that he’s recently had an argument with Goofy and would like their help in proving he’s right. As it turns out, Donald believes catfish can be found in the ocean while Goofy, an expert fisherman, believes they’re only found in lakes. To help him out, Donald gives players a set of Green Fishing Waders to wear before dragging them down to Dazzle Beach. Players should equip the Fishing Rod they got from Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Royal Tools quest and go fishing. To complete this stage of the quest, players need to catch ten fish from the ocean.

After catching ten fish, players can express their doubts about finding any catfish. Frustrated, Donald will insist that he saw a catfish in the ocean and waddles off to another part of the beach. He’ll lead players to a small fishing spot. On fishing there, players will catch one of Donald’s Time Capsules. Players should give it to Donald, who’ll find it contains part of a Memory that Donald had about planning a special invention to help Dreamlight Valley. While his memory isn’t complete, Donald will tell players he’s starting to remember a bit more and leads them off to one final location: the Sunlit Plateau. At this point, players might want to cook one of Disney Dreamlight Valley’s many different recipes to top up their energy.

At the Sunlit Plateau, Donald won’t be able to remember the exact location of the thing he’s looking for. Luckily, players can figure out where it is by looking at the photograph in the memory. By going to the spot marked on the map above, players can dig up another Time Capsule. While Donald explains he’ll work on getting this one open, players can also remind him to apologize to Goofy. By doing so, players can complete this quest and tick A Fishy Dispute off their Disney Dreamlight Valley quest lists.
