In June 2021, IDW will publish Disney's Doorway to Danger, an original graphic novel. According to the summary, Mickey and his friends will be "contestants on a reality TV game show." The group will be trying to collect keys, while an unknown foe may be trying to prevent them from doing so. The summary reveals that the characters included in this graphic novel are Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Uncle Scrooge while promising even more. Pete, who is often used as a villain in various Mickey stories, will also be involved, but who is Trudy? The other listed characters have all been featured in comics before, including Uncle Scrooge who has had nine different comic series of his own beginning in 1952.

New Disney Comic

There are currently no well-known Disney characters by the name of Trudy, but that doesn't mean there has never been a Trudy in Disney comics. In 1960, a character named Trudy Van Tubb was created by Romano Scarpa for a line of Disney comics. She appeared in a comic called Topolino e la collana Chirikawa, which translates to Mickey and the Chirikawa necklace. What some American and Canadian Disney fans may not know is that in Italy, Romano Scarpa was a predominant artist known for writing and illustrating Disney comics. Topolino comics, as they are called, refer to Disney comics published in Italy that involve Mickey Mouse, since Topolino is Mickey's Italian name. In these comics, Trudy is Pete's girlfriend. These comics began publishing in 1932.

This graphic novel will be a new story for Disney fans to enjoy, but it may also bring an Italian comic character to America for the first time. Whether or not Trudy will be Pete's Italian comic girlfriend or an all-new character to meet, readers won't know until Disney's Doorway to Danger releases June 2021.
