Disney Sketchbook on Disney+ is an upcoming series that takes audiences on a journey through Walt Disney Animation Studios as the talented artists there teach the viewers how to draw some of the company's most iconic characters. It's an exciting premise and one that certainly offers a lot of engagement with fans.

There's such a wide variety of characters that audiences would love to learn how to draw for themselves. While some have been teased in the trailer, regardless of whether they are confirmed or not, the prospect of getting to create these heroic protagonists is exciting for all ages.

Honorable Mention: The Toy Story Gang

The gang in Toy Story 2

While the Toy Story saga is distributed alongside Disney, it's actually a Pixar production. It's unclear whether the characters from the other studio will be making their way into this series, but if they are then fans will surely want to learn how to draw the titular toys.

There are so many iconic characters amongst the group, whether it's the core trio of Woody, Jessie, and Buzz or the supporting cast, from Rex to Bo Peep. The movies continue to resonate with audiences today and teaching future generations how to draw them is a great way for the cast of characters to live on.

Kim Possible

Kim Possible: A Sitch In Time Ron and Kim

Kim Possible is a fantastic show that will have played a part in plenty of childhoods. The Disney Channel series might not factor into Sketchbook, and indeed perhaps there are no classic shows forming any of the episodes. But it would certainly make for a fun trip down memory lane.

Back in the day, Disney Channel used to boast brief clips showing the viewer how to draw their famous characters. Kim Possible was a part of those little vignettes and so considering this Disney+ show appears to be paying homage to those moments, the adventurous spy should be on the list!

Elsa And Anna

Is there a more iconic duo of sisters than Elsa and Anna? The pair has faced a lot together already and are some of Disney's most popular characters. It's therefore not that surprising that fans would likely want to be able to draw them, or improve their art, to take them on new adventures.

The trailer for the series did showcase Olaf in all his glory, but the sisters might be a little more complex to bring to the page. Regardless it would be refreshing to see them in a different format, considering the look of the films relies upon the modern CGI techniques for animation, rather than the drawings of the earlier classics.

Winnie The Pooh

Winnie The Pooh is a juggernaut of Disney; it's a franchise and character that has become almost a separate entity because of how beloved his world is. There's something so special about the simplistic design of Pooh and his friends. Audiences are going to want to draw him.

In theory, the character might be a great starting place for those wanting to get into drawing full time. He appears to be a lot of circles and curved edges, which are usually slightly easier to draw. Regardless it's those beloved expressions that bring the character to life, so hopefully, there will be an in-depth lesson on how to accurately portray those features.

Hercules

Meg and Hercules stare lovingly at each other

Hercules is one of Disney's most underrated movies, although it's beginning to build up quite the cult following as new fans discover the picture for the first time on Disney+. The gorgeous songs and fun narrative help to sell the film, but the aesthetic of the piece is spectacular.

The animation is top-notch and uses some of those previously mentioned classic techniques in its character design. Plenty of fans will want to be able to draw Hercules because of the quality of the film, although a fair few might want a lesson on Meg as well!

Mirabel

Encanto is easily one of Disney's most successful movies. It captured the attention of audiences in a way many of its features haven't in recent years and its songs continue to live on even in the music charts! Mirabel is a wonderful lead and it looks as if fans will get to learn how to draw her.

Once again it's a slightly different medium for the character, as her look is usually grounded in the world of CGI animation. Her quirky personality sings through her attire and facial expressions and that's what will bring the character to life on the page, as audiences learn how to create her using their sketchpads.

Raya

Another character that perhaps isn't quite as used to a pencil as other Disney legends, Raya is a newer addition to the archives of the House of Mouse but she's one of the best designs in the company's history. She is a perfect action hero with a quality look to match.

The character has become instantly popular and the movie continues to build traction as fans start to discover it on the streaming service. Her best friend Tuk Tuk can't be ignored in any drawing lesson, but the protagonist would be a challenging yet exciting place to begin.

Tiana

Tiana in Tiana's Palace in Princess and the Frog

Ahead of Tiana's spin-off show on Disney+, fans may want to start learning how to bring the princess to the page. Her film continues to stand the test of time as her adventures from frog to palace provide much-needed inspiration. The character completely deserves her dedicated drawing lesson.

While it might be that fans also get to draw Tiana in her amphibian form, the breathtaking attires she gets to wear towards the conclusion of Princess And The Frog will surely make the must-have list for those wanting to adopt the character using their non-digital tools.

Lilo And Stitch

Another hit from Disney's earlier days that is only now beginning to gain the attention it truly deserves, both Lilo and Stitch are fantastic muses to be able to learn how to draw. They are so vibrant and full of personality; it's easy to imagine the bizarre situations viewers could place these protagonists within.

Stitch in particular has become a bit of an icon and there's no lack of merch celebrating Experiment 626. The creature is equal parts menacing and adorable, which has become an odd yet endearing quality of the film. Its unpredictability is what audiences love, which is why they may wish to capture that essence in their way.

The Toons

It all started with a mouse, it should be celebrated. Mickey Mouse is the hero that Walt Disney needed to launch his massive entertainment brand and the toons of the company are still a massive part of Disney today. They still have their own shows and there are occasionally new introductions into the family.

The modern techniques used in drawing Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the gang have created a really stylized look that fans may want to try out for themselves. Of course, everyone has their favorite character, so the likes of Goofy, Donald, Daisy, Pluto, and maybe even Pete should all get a look in throughout the show.
