Mickey Mouse is one of the most iconic animated characters of all time, given that this Walt Disney character is often seen as the face of the entire company. While Disney's greatest movies don't often include the original character, this is where it all began, and he's always had a big role to play.
However, over the years, there are tons of different movies and television shows all focused on Mickey Mouse. Whether it be shorts or feature movies, the Mickey Mouse character is always fun to see due to the overwhelmingly positive atmosphere he brings. But what are the 10 greatest Mickey Mouse productions, according to IMDb?
Steamboat Willie - 1928 (7.4)
While Mickey Mouse had appeared in an earlier short titled, Plane Crazy, Steamboat Willie is often considered to be the official debut of Disney's most beloved character. This short movie is done in black and white, with his whistled song being very well-known.
The clip of Steamboat Willie is often shown prior to every Disney feature release now, reminding people that it truly did all start with a mouse. The plot sees Mickey want to be the captain of a steamboat, only for that role to be Pete's, which leads to Mickey having fun all around the boat in what is a great short.
House Of Mouse - 2001-2003 (7.5)
House Of Mouse was a classic Disney television show, where Mickey himself was the owner of a dinner theatre club within ToonTown. Each episode would see different characters from Disney's vast library appear as Mickey and his friends attempted to entertain.
Of course, Pete was brought in as the villain for this show as he attempted to shut them down on a regular basis, causing problems that would need fixing, which was the real plot of the show. Mickey was fun in this role, and having lots of Easter Eggs from within the Disney movies made each episode entertaining.
Lonesome Ghosts - 1937 (7.7)
Lonesome Ghosts is one of Mickey Mouse's most popular short movies, and it is also one of his highest-rated productions according to IMDb. This particular short focuses on Mickey, Donald, and Goofy working together as ghost exterminators.
Of course, as expected with this trio, they're not exactly perfect at the job. They get hired for a job, but it is the ghosts themselves who bring them in, purely to spend their time tricking and scaring them, which leads to some hilarious reactions from the trio.
Fantasia - 1940 (7.7)
Fantasia is an iconic movie that tells a variety of different stories through music. Disney brought together a variety of classical music and produced different segments to each song. However, by far the most well-known is the segment that involves Mickey Mouse.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice is one of the most iconic scenes in Disney's history, with Mickey in his classic robe and hat struggling to control the broomsticks as they get out of control. It's classic Mickey in every sense, being a little cheeky, but having his heart in the right place at the same time.
Pluto's Christmas Tree - 1952 (7.7)
Another popular Mickey short is Pluto's Christmas Tree, which, as the title suggests, places a focus on Mickey's trusted pet, Pluto. However, this short is also all about Chip and Dale as well, who just so happen to live in the Christmas tree that Mickey and Pluto choose.
This leads to the two characters tormenting Pluto, who ends up making a mess which creates tension between him and Mickey until he learns what is going on. Ultimately, this is a short all about being together at Christmas, with everyone ending up getting along, just about.
The Band Concert - 1935 (7.9)
This short is all about the friendship that Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck have together, which is often very temperamental. That's certainly the case in this one, as Donald constantly proves to be a nuisance to Mickey as he and his band attempt to play a show.
Donald ends up playing music which leads to Mickey's group playing what Donald does, and that leads to him and Mickey going back and forth, with each character wanting to be in control. It's a very funny short, as Donald and Mickey are always great together as the main focus.
Mickey's Trailer - 1938 (7.9)
This is another of Mickey Mouse's classic short movies, and it takes him on a road trip inside of his very own trailer. However, it doesn't exactly go to plan, despite the fact Mickey has a brilliant trailer, as his journey with Donald and Goofy has plenty of disasters.
Pretty much everything that could go wrong, does go wrong for them, which brings a lot of great comedic elements to this particular short, making it a lot of fun to watch.
Mickey's Christmas Carol - 1983 (8.0)
The classic Charles Dickens story, A Christmas Carol, has been told in many different ways over the years, with countless different characters taking on the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. In Disney's version, it is actually Scrooge McDuck who has that role, as the wealthy tycoon who doesn't want to help others.
The story follows the same beats that are expected, but having them take place in the whimsical animated movie does give this version a nice charm. In this story, Mickey Mouse takes on the role of Bob Cratchit, who is the underpaid staff member of Scrooge.
Mickey Mouse - 2013-2019 (8.1)
This television series which brings together lots of short episodes created a new version of Mickey Mouse, providing a totally new look for the iconic character, and it's one that proved to be popular. So popular in fact, that it led to the creation of a ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios, purely based around this style.
These episodes are just good-natured fun, with Mickey and his usual gang of friends heading out to have different adventures in each episode. As usual, Mickey is the leader of the gang, but the episodes are filled with comedy and silly moments that are fun to watch for viewers of all ages.
