TLC viewers weren’t pleased when Discovery announced that new 90 Day Fiance spin-offs would only be available on their streaming service, Discovery Plus. Fans who had watched the series since the beginning on TLC didn’t like having to pay for a new service just to continue watching their favorite series. Now they’re earning the frustration of Travel Channel viewers with the announcement that their new content will premiere on Discovery Plus first.

Discovery Plus premiered in January 2021. Boasting over 55,000 episodes in their content, Discovery has brought together shows from 14 different cable networks, including Animal Planet, OWN, HGTV, Food Network, A&E, and Travel Channel. Travel Channel has gotten away from its namesake and has become known for its shows about the paranormal. New episodes of shows like Ghost Adventures will be on Discovery Plus before eventually landing on the cable network. With Discovery Plus controlling the direction of the Travel Channel shows, what should fans expect for the direction of the network?

Discovery Plus seems to be going all-in on the paranormal, continuing some of the top series from Travel Channel. Ghost Adventures is not only getting a new season, but also some spin-offs. Ghost Adventures: Top 10 will be highlighting top moments from the previous 200 episodes. Ghost Adventures: Cecil Hotel is a two-hour special about the famously haunted hotel. In a similar vein, Shock Docs is a documentary series about haunted places that inspired books and movies, such as The Amityville Horror.

Unsolved Mysteries Berkshire UFO Sightnings

There will also be new paranormal offerings as well. Fright Club will pair Jack Osbourne and the Ghost Brothers as they review footage of everything from ghosts to UFOs, voting on which clip they believe is the spookiest. They will also interview experts in various paranormal fields. Another new show, UFO Witness, follows former FBI agent Ben Hansen as he uses his investigative skills to take a closer look into reported UFO sightings.

It seems there won’t be many new shows focused on travel. The closest thing will be Race Across the World, a competition show like The Amazing Race, where teams compete to circumnavigate the globe the fastest. Race Across the World has the added twist that competitors aren’t allowed to fly and can’t have cell phones. Without these luxuries, travel becomes much more of a challenge

Viewers of the Travel Channel may not be pleased to have their favorite shows premiering on Discovery Plus, even if they will eventually be released to the cable channel. But with Discovery Plus doubling down on the paranormal content, they are at least giving fans what they want, if not on the platform that they prefer.
