Director J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) recently teased the start of filming for Jurassic World 2, which he has described as a “fun” movie and “way bigger” than the first Jurassic World. The cast for Jurassic World 2 is also coming together with some fresh faces joining the returning stars - Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and B.D. Wong.

Justice Smith (The Get Down) is one of the notable new additions to the cast of Jurassic World 2 as one of the potential new male leads. Actress Daniella Pineda (The Originals) has also been added in a “key role,” in addition to actors Toby Jones (Captain America) and Rafe Spall (Prometheus). But another potential new addition to the cast may raise some eyebrows, considering he has virtually no acting experience: world-famous DJ Dimitri Thivaios, better known as Dimitri Vegas.

According to a report by We Got This Covered, a “European source” says that Dimitri Vegas is “eyeing a role” in Jurassic World 2. Vegas recently met with producer Frank Marshall, which he shared on his Twitter account on Thursday. The source confirmed to We Got This Covered that the pair met to discuss a potential role in Jurassic World 2.

Dimitri Vegas is best known as one-half of the DJ/producer duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, who have produced dance hits like “Higher Place” and “Hey Baby.” But Vegas recently signed on to the Creative Artists Agency in hopes of breaking into acting. He currently has one acting credit, appearing as himself along with Like Mike in Safety First: The Movie, a mockumentary about security guards working at the Tomorrowland EDM music festival.

According to We Got This Covered, Vegas likely would not have a “terribly large role” in Jurassic World 2, which is to be expected for a musician with limited acting experience. It’s quite possible that Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, as they did in Safety First: The Movie, would simply appear in a brief cameo as themselves in some kind of scene involving a concert or nightclub.

A casting decision like this could potentially invite questions as to the priorities of the makers of Jurassic World 2. It would especially raise concerns of Dimitri Vegas is cast in a crucial role in the sequel despite just barely breaking into acting in the past two years. But the cast has already been filled with experienced action and sci-fi actors; it’s likely that Dimitri Vegas would simply be a bit part or a quick cameo as himself, and not a key member of the cast. With or without Vegas in the fold, production on Jurassic World 2 is set to begin soon.
