The DigiDestined, protagonists of the Digimon anime and heroes foretold to save the Digital World, are each aligned with special Crests that exemplify aspects of their personality. These help the DigiDestined to assist their Digimon partners, while also serving to teach them valuable lessons about themselves.
Similarly, in the world of Harry Potter, the four houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry are associated with particular traits that aim to help their students succeed to the best of their abilities. Sorting the DigiDestined from Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02 into these houses can be a way to reveal more about their characters.
Updated on April 14th, 2022 by Stacie Rook: While the 2020 Digimon Adventure reboot left fans disappointed, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna acted as a satisfying and nostalgic conclusion to the original Digimon Adventure saga, following on from the events of Digimon Adventure tri. Though the movie showed the DigiDestined evolving as they entered adulthood, many distinct aspects of their personalities were established in the original shows, when the characters were children.
Taichi/Tai: Gryffindor
Easily a Gryffindor, Taichi is the bearer of the Crest of Courage, echoing the biggest attribute of Gryffindor, along with loyalty and honor - all of which are qualities Taichi has in spades.
He has great leadership qualities, is a competitive sports player (no doubt he'd give Harry a run for his money as Quidditch captain), but can also be stubborn to a fault - the pressure of keeping his friends safe led to Taichi causing Agumon to dark-digivolve to SkullGreymon - as well as brash or quick to act without thinking of a plan - like when he rushed to save Sora from the Dark Network.
Yamato/Matt: Slytherin
There are several arguments to be made for where Yamato could be sorted. He has the potential to end up in either Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin. He's intelligent and creative, which are Ravenclaw qualities, however, he has the Crest of Friendship, which could potentially land him in Hufflepuff.
Ultimately, though, it's his tendencies towards being a loner, select loyalty, and his ability to make the cold, hard decisions for the greater good that land him in Slytherin. In Digimon Adventure tri., when Taichi is presumed dead, Yamato is the one to step up as the leader, knowing there is no time to grieve when there are greater issues at hand.
Sora: Hufflepuff
It could be argued that Sora belongs in Gryffindor. She is definitely loyal and brave, and could quietly fit in, sharing some of Neville Longbottom's best traits. Ultimately, though, she is much a better fit in Hufflepuff. She has the Crest of Love, and always looks out for her friends and trys to be of service.
Her selflessness can be a detriment, though, as her tendency to put others ahead of herself means hiding her personal problems to not be a burden to her friends. Sora is also shown to be pursuing a career in flower arranging, or Ikebana, like her mother, mirroring the trademark Hufflepuff affinity for Herbology.
Koushiro/Izzy: Ravenclaw
Much like it is an easy choice to put Taichi in Gryffindor, it makes perfect sense to have Koushiro in Ravenclaw. He's the bearer of the Crest of Knowledge, is always fascinated by the mysteries of the Digital World, and always ready to put his research skills to good use.
The downside to being a Ravenclaw, though, means having a one-track mind, or sometimes being insensitive or unaware of the needs of others. This definitely comes up when Koushiro, Tentomon, Mimi, and Palmon are lost in a mysterious temple, and Koushiro is so focused on researching the hieroglyphs that he ignores his upset friends.
Mimi: Slytherin
Though Mimi's sweet appearance doesn't scream Slytherin, a closer inspection reveals it's where she belongs. If Draco is called the Slytherin prince, then Mimi would definitely be the princess. They may have a bad reputation, but Slytherins tend to prove everyone wrong, not only with their shrewd and cunning, but as determined high achievers, keen on self-preservation.
As she's grown older, Mimi has become quite business-minded. She may not become a CEO like Koushiro, but she sets high goals for herself and others and expects everyone to meet them. This attitude can alienate others, though, as it did in Digimon Adventure tri. when she decided her class would run an American style cafe without stopping to think about anyone else's desires.
Jyou/Joe: Hufflepuff
Some could argue that there is a place for Jyou in Ravenclaw. Since Digimon's earliest episodes, he set himself the goal of becoming a doctor, constantly studying hard. Viewers know from the epilogue that he does, in fact, grow up to become the first doctor for both humans and Digimon.
On the other hand, Jyou's intelligence doesn't seem innate. He struggles a lot with his studies and average grades. Jyou's patience and determination to work hard in this endeavor makes him a perfect fit for Hufflepuff. Not only is he a dedicated worker, but he is a kind friend and mindful of the safety of others. He's the one who thought to carry a first-aid kit all across the Digital World, and was always willing to help an injured party, whether they were friend or foe.
Takeru/T.K.: Gryffindor
It's easy to thing Takeru could end up in Hufflepuff. He's definitely a great friend, and grows up to have a good sense of humor with a humble, jovial nature. He's also level-headed and fair-minded, for the most part. Unfortunately, Takeru can have a highly moralistic outlook and fall into black-and-white thinking, a negative quality found in some proud Gryffindors.
He's led by his emotions and has anger issues, particularly when faced with injustice and evil - like when he punched Ken. But there's also a flair of heroism to Takeru, particularly as he is always protecting Hikari.
Hikari/Kari: Hufflepuff
While Hikari was the last of the original DigiDestined to join the adventure in the Digital World, she had a vital role in the story, and as the wielder of the Crest of Light, her kindness and down-to-earth nature make her a great Hufflepuff.
Hikari doesn't have a wholly easy time in her quest as a DigiDestined, though, with certain storylines in Digimon Adventure 02 seeing her pit against forces of darkness. In the end, though, her determination and strong friendships see her through.
Miyako/Yolei: Ravenclaw
Miyako ticks a lot of boxes to belong in Ravenclaw. Though she doesn't hold the Crest of Knowledge, she's smart, the tech-wiz within her group (she takes over as president of the computer club), and admires Koushiro for his exceptional skills.
There's also a real geekiness to Miyako. Perhaps the biggest oddball out of all the DigiDestined, she's sometimes reminiscent of one of Harry Potter's most likable Ravenclaws, Luna Lovegood.
Daisuke/Davis: Gryffindor
Daisuke is an easy fit for Gryffindor. Though often dismissed as a Taichi carbon-copy, another impulsive yet lovable leader, he is an individual too. Daisuke is fiercely loyal, a loudmouth, and stubborn to a fault - all of which are Gryffindor qualities.
Daisuke may make a lot of mistakes, but he always has good intentions. His courage lies in his willingness to face dire situations with optimism and unshakable hope. He aims to be a good friend and is prepared to give people a second chance, which he did for villain-turned-ally Ken.
Ken: Hufflepuff
Given that Ken starts out in Digimon Adventure 02 as the villainous Digimon Emperor, controlled by dark forces, it would be easy to simply put him into the Hogwarts house traditionally associated with evil, Slytherin.
However, this would be ignore his true kind personality, and although he could simply be one of the nicest Slytherin characters, Ken's traits are more Hufflepuff-leaning. Most honestly, Ken is gentle and sweet, and though his actions as the Digimon Emperor haunt him, he works tirelessly to move past his mistakes.
Iori/Cody: Ravenclaw
Despite being the youngest of the DigiDestined introduced in Digimon Adventure 02, Iori is arguably the most mature, and perfectly exemplifies the Digi-Eggs of Reliability and Knowledge that he wields.
Iori is fascinated by the Digital World, and though his maturity can sometimes weigh him down, he slowly learns to view the world with more nuance as he spends time with his friends and Digimon partner Armadillomon.
