One of the features that made Minecraft such a beloved game around the globe is the boundless creativity it offers players. With a vast array of block types to choose from and build with, anything that comes to mind can be created. A block type that's used by newcomer and veteran crafters alike are stone bricks.

Stone bricks are a fancier version of the stone blocks found underneath the dirt. Players use them to build more elegant structures, as seen in the strongholds procedurally generated throughout Minecraft worlds. Players can mine them there and take them home to construct their own creations, but it’s possible to make them on one’s own without searching for them, which this guide will show.

The Stone Brick Crafting Guide

Minecraft Wrath of the Fallen

Stone Bricks

  • The simplest stone bricks are the easiest to make. All players need are four stone blocks placed together into a two-by-two cube in the crafting table. However, stone blocks mined with a pickaxe turn into cobblestone. To obtain pure stone blocks, the cobblestone must be smelted in a furnace. Those planning to make an entire castle out of this block type will need to create hundreds of stone blocks, so consider investing in hopper automation to make the process easier.

Stone Brick Slabs

  • Once players have access to regular stone bricks, they can use crafting tables to alter their appearance in a variety of waves. One such variation is the slab block. Only half the height of a regular Minecraft block, stone brick slabs can be used to create a multitude of features like statues and rooftops. To create a set of six, fill an entire row of the crafting table with stone bricks.

Chiseled Stone Bricks

  • Looking to emblazon a fortress with a unique pattern? Try crafting some chiseled stone bricks by placing one stone brick slab on top of another one in a crafting table. The square pattern of this block can make for a good pillar or artistic flooring.

Mossy Stone Brick

  • Players wishing to construct an ancient temple for an adventure map or as an art project will get a lot of mileage out of these mossy stone bricks. Only one stone brick and a vine are required to make it, but it’s not as simple as it sounds. Vines only grow in specific locations, such as jungles, and cannot be collected by destroying them with bare fists. Instead, they need to be sheared with a pair of shears, as one would with a sheep.

Stone Brick Stairs and Walls

  • Much like with wood planks and cobblestone, stone bricks can be used to make blocks like stairs and walls. Walls in Minecraft are useful for keeping farm animals in place, as entities cannot jump over them, and the utility of stairs is self-explanatory. How they’re crafted is no different than their wooden counterparts: for walls, fill the bottom two rows with stone bricks, and for stairs, create a staircase in the crafting table descending right.
