UPDATE: Bruce Willis' John McClane return is an advert for Advance Auto Parts' new battery.

Die Hard star Bruce Willis is teasing a return to his John McClane roots in a new mysterious video. When the first Die Hard hit theaters in 1988, not only did it successfully go against the action films of the time by casting a lead actor who did not have giant muscles, but it also turned Willis into a bonafide action star and created a whole new franchise. Unfortunately, the franchise’s last installment, A Good Day to Die Hard, came in 2013, and it was universally panned. In recent years, a sixth film has been in development, which was going to be a prequel/sequel titled McClane. The Disney-Fox deal has since left that film in limbo, but despite the uncertainty surrounding Die Hard, a new video has now teased Willis returning to the franchise in some fashion.

Yesterday, Willis’ daughter Rumer Willis shared a very short teaser video on her Twitter with the hashtag “DieHardisback.” The video stars an older Willis (or John McClane) and includes the tagline, “As one story ends. A new one begins,” before finishing with the tease “10.18.20 #DIEHARDISBACK.” The full video can be seen below:

Despite only being 15 seconds, the video does leave you curious, and for Die Hard fanatics, this will no doubt leave them ecstatic as they get to see Willis return to Die Hard in some form. It may be unlikely that this is actually teasing the rumored sixth film of the franchise, as there has been little noise coming out of the Mouse House about a John McClane story. What may give the project away is in the tweet, Willis also writes #ad, meaning this could be some type of fun brand endorsement that sees Willis bring back McClane in an entertaining manner. Of course, with the date 10.18.20, it surely won’t be long to find out what this Bruce Willis Die Hard tease is all about.
