WARNING: Spoilers ahead for The Boys season 3, episode 6

The Boys season 3's "Herogasm" episode reveals a secret connection between Soldier Boy and Stormfront, but was Payback's leader aware of her Nazi history? Originally known as Ben, Soldier Boy got injected with Compound-V sometime around World War II, making him one of Vought's oldest creations - but not the oldest. Before Frederick Vought switched sides, his Compound-V experiments began under Adolf Hitler's jurisdiction, and the scientist's wife stood first in line for a dose. After moving to American shores, the ageless Mrs. Vought went under various superhero monikers, Liberty and Stormfront among them.

As two of the oldest supes in The Boys' mythology, the chances of Soldier Boy and Stormfront knowing each other were always high. Sure enough, Eric Kripke (showrunner) confirmed ahead of The Boys season 3's premiere that Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash's characters did have history together, and that history finally comes to light thanks to "Herogasm." As Soldier Boy prepares for revenge on the TNT twins alongside new friends Billy Butcher and Hughie Campbell, he reveals the annual supe party was started by himself and another Vought veteran called Liberty, who he describes as a "firecracker." The line raises an important question - when they weren't partying and (probably) sleeping together, did Soldier Boy, infamous killer of Nazis, know Liberty counted Adolf as a personal friend?

Though The Boys doesn't address the question explicitly, all signs point toward Soldier Boy remaining ignorant about Stormfront's fascist past. Soldier Boy labels Liberty a "firecracker," which sounds like he remembers her simply as a strong-willed personality with a sharp tongue and no fear when voicing her opinion. The joke here is that Soldier Boy never realized the feisty young woman he once hung around with was actually a full-blown Nazi.

Stormfront (Aya Cash) and her alter ego Lady Liberty

Soldier Boy knowing Stormfront's big secret also doesn't fit with her backstory from The Boys season 2. After the Voughts defected from Germany to the United States, Frederick's wife was packaged as a superhero and her grim past buried completely, known only to a few higher-ups and the influential Church of the Collective cult. Soldier Boy would never have been privy to such delicate information, and Stormfront is highly unlikely to have spilled the beans herself. As far as The Boys has revealed, Stormfront told one person about her true identity - Homelander. Even then, she only revealed the truth because Homelander represented the pinnacle of her husband's work, and she needed his superior power to lead a racist uprising. By all accounts, Stormfront and Soldier Boy were nowhere near close enough for such juicy details to be shared.

When Homelander found out the sorry truth about Stormfront, he didn't much care. The Boys hints that Soldier Boy's reaction would've been very different. Before the Herogasm mission, Soldier Boy complains about the modern world to Butcher and Hughie, remembering how he "fought for this country." Jensen Ackles' Captain America parody also seems generally less unhinged than his Vought successor, causing collateral damage accidentally rather than because he's a sociopath. Soldier Boy may not be a saint, but even he might've drawn a line at cavorting around with a Nazi.
