Warning: SPOILERS for Stranger Things season 4.

Did Millie Bobby Brown shave her head again for Stranger Things season 4? Way back during production for Stranger Things season 1, Millie Bobby Brown notably shaved her head to play Eleven, a girl who escaped from Hawkins Lab after being experimented on throughout her whole life. A few years later, Millie Bobby Brown opened up about shaving her head, saying it felt liberating, but people's reactions to seeing her without hair was what caused her to question her decision (via W Magazine).

Luckily, Eleven didn't need to go back to Hawkins Lab, so Millie Bobby Brown got to keep her hair in tact for Stranger Things seasons 2 and 3. But then things changed for season 4, given she needed to revisit her past in order to reobtain her powers. Part of Stranger Things season 4's story includes the Nina Project, an alternate form of time travel that has Eleven reexperience memories that she had suppressed years before, which would allow her to relearn her abilities after losing them at the end of season 3.

Before being told what the Nina Project really is, Eleven was thrown into it blind - and she discovered that the people at the Nina Project shaved her head again, presumably to make the project work more seamlessly. But this time, Millie Bobby Brown did not shave her head. She used a wig for Stranger Things season 4, one that had been cut and buzzed over. It's unclear if this was an option for Millie Bobby Brown during season 1's production, but the show was considerably smaller at the time and they perhaps didn't have the time or budget to make a wig or bald cap work for the entire season.

Recently, the hair department head for Stranger Things, Sarah Hindsgaul, posted a video on Instagram that highlighted the application process. It wasn't as easy as putting on a wig in a few seconds; it took substantially more time to get the wig right and then apply it to Millie Bobby Brown's head every day (or when needed for the Nina Project scenes).

There's usually some form of time jump at the end of each season - the time skips in seasons 1 and 2 were relatively short, but season 3 jumped forward 3 months - so depending on what the time jump is at the end of Stranger Things season 4, Eleven might still have short hair by the time season 5 rolls around. But looking back on the entire series, hair has never been an issue for any of the characters or cast members - at least not for most of them; the Byers are still stuck with their bowl cuts, unfortunately.
