Upgrading Equipment in Diablo Immortal
To upgrade equipment in Diablo Immortal, players need certain components that can be found out in the world, but players will also need to salvage unwanted gear. This ability is unlocked once players speak to Korrin the blacksmith, who players will meet through the main story. Players next will unlock upgrading when they encounter Paulie the blacksmith, who is located at Guard’s Watch in Ashwold Cemetery. Players will also receive their first piece of upgradable gear from Captain Azmir in the same camp.
The materials required to upgrade equipment include things like scrap materials, enchanted dust, and gold. As players put more ranks into gear, it becomes more expensive. Not to worry though, because upgrades do transfer over to other gear in Diablo Immortal by a process known as rank transfer. This is one of several ways to change legendary gear. Players can transfer ranks through gear equipped in the same slot. So, if players upgrade gear in their pants slot, they can use rank transfer to continue to have fancy pants.
As long as they have the available materials, players should continue to upgrade their gear. It makes players more effective when dealing damage in combat, and also makes them more survivable. The game does encourage microtransactions, as it is a free-to-play game. Still, players can experience the main story without needing to spend money, provided they make smart choices regarding their gear, the skills they choose, and their approach to combat. This will vary depending on class, as necromancer builds play very differently from barbarians.
