A potential Diablo 4 leak popped up on Reddit today, and it appears to have revealed three classes that will be present within the game alongside the much more interesting possibility of open world gameplay becoming a feature for the fan-favorite franchise. Blizzard's last major Diablo announcement was the poorly-received Diablo Immortal, revealed last BlizzCon to fan outrage all over the internet, which led to Blizzard feeling the need to defend its decision before wisely just deciding not to talk about it for essentially the rest of the year.

BlizzCon 2019 begins tomorrow, and previous leaks have already revealed that Blizzard is set to reveal two huge game announcements at the annual gathering: Diablo 4, which has been in development for a while now, and Overwatch 2. The latter will apparently be a more campaign-focused iteration of the franchise, but it's also tagged to introduce a new multiplayer game mode. As for Diablo 4, there isn't much known about the game other than that focus on it has inevitably been ramped up after the poor showing from Diablo Immortal and a cry for a return to the series' roots.

The Reddit leak, which surfaced earlier today, is from a very strong source: the account is responsible for several other major leaks that were verifiable in retrospect, including those for Pokemon Sword & Shield and Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. Given that, the Diablo 4 leaks should be considered at least likely to have some truth to them, and if that's the case, there's some major information available. First and foremost, the post seems to suggest there could be open world elements coming to the game. It states that players will be able to ride mounts and that there's lots of interaction with the surrounding environment, including climbing walls. Another major win for long-time fans: Diablo 4 will be eschewing the bright colors many took umbrage with and bring back the gritty and gross aesthetic the series is known for.

The Diablo 4 leak also suggests that there are at least three classes confirmed for the game already. The mage, which seems to be a replacement for the sorcerer/sorceress class; a barbarian class that is exactly what fans might expect from the series historically; and a druid class, which will be able to transform into beasts and use the elements of wind and lightning. The post also suggests that Diablo 4 plays heavily off Diablo 2, another scrap of information that will surely excite fans.

Whether or not the Diablo 4 leak is true, it's certainly set a high bar for Blizzard come BlizzCon 2019. It's also generating hype for the upcoming announcement, though, something that Blizzard sorely needs as its still embroiled in a Hong Kong controversy that threatens to completely overshadow what is normally the best weekend of the year for fans of the developer.
