Diablo 2: Resurrected is a remake of the original Diablo 2, which was released in 2000. Unlike its predecessor, Diablo 2: Resurrected will be released on multiple platforms, so there are more players who will have access to the game this time. Additionally, new features and updated gameplay mechanics have been added to modernize the game.

There are seven unique character classes in Diablo 2: Resurrected. As players begin to progress, they will notice that there are certain skills, items, and stats that complement each other for each class. Characters can use specific builds that will prove to be more powerful than others because they play to the character's strengths and natural abilities; the Assassin is no exception.

Unlike in Diablo 3, players can't max out every skill and stat in Diablo 2: Resurrected, so they will need to be strategic about their choices. There are a few different routes players can take when building a powerful Assassin character in the game, but there is one build in particular that has consistently stood out since the introduction of the Assassin in the original game. The Trapper build focuses on the Assassin's ability to ensnare and damage enemies without needing to be in the heart of the battle.

Creating the Trapper Assassin Build in Diablo 2: Resurrected

Diablo 2 Resurrected - Assassin Fire

Diablo 2: Resurrected players will need to pay close attention to their skills, stats, and, to some extent, gear bonuses in order to build a Trapper Assassin. Successfully following this build will take some time, and players won't see some of the benefits early in the game. Fortunately, the Trapper doesn't rely too much on gear, so it's easier to create than some of the other gear-heavy builds. As the Assassin levels up, there are certain skills and stats players should prioritize:

Skills

  • Lightning Sentry - 20
  • Death Sentry - 20
  • Fire Blast - 20
  • Weapon Block - 1
  • Fade - 1
  • Burst of Speed - 1
  • Charged Bolt Sentry - 1
  • Claw Mastery - 1
  • Psychic Hammer - 1
  • Shock Web - 1
  • Cloak of Shadows - 1

At the beginning of the game, players should focus on maxing out Lightning Sentry first, then Death Sentry. Fire Blast can be maxed when players respec their character. When players reach their max level, there will be a few points left over for that familiar RPG character customization. For these stats, players will need to increase strength and dexterity enough to equip their gear (at least 55 to use Blade Talons). Gear that requires more than 100 strength isn't worth using for this build. All remaining stat points should go into Vitality, and players don't need to put anything into Energy.

Alternatively, players can build a melee-focused Assassin, which has more benefits early on, but ultimately isn't as powerful as the Trapper Assassin. Creating strong builds in Diablo 2: Resurrected can be tricky and confusing for new players. The most important thing to pay attention to is which skills can play off of each other and how the stats and gear bonuses affect a character's playstyle.
