A new behind-the-scenes image from Dexter season 9 reveals a first look at the titular killer's son all grown up. After leaving his life in Miami behind, Dexter, played by Michael C. Hall, has taken up residence in the snowy New York town of Iron Lake. There, he works as a local shopkeeper under the name of Jim Lindsay, all the while fighting the Dark Passenger and his thirst for blood. That hasn't stopped him from pursuing a relationship with the town's chief of police, though, played by Julia Jones. Jamie Chung will also star in the new season as a true crime podcaster, while Clancy Brown stars as Kurt Caldwell, the primary villain of the new season.

Original showrunner Clyde Phillips, who departed the series after season 4, is back for the revival and so are a few familiar faces. Jennifer Carpenter will reportedly reprise the role of Debra Morgan, Dexter's sister who died in the original series finale. John Lithgow is also expected to return as the Trinity Killer, but that may not be all. Dexter's showrunner confirmed even more returns, some that will blow longtime fans' minds. Who that could be remains up in the air, but while not an original castmember, there is one returning character who will prove pivotal to Dexter's journey in the upcoming reboot.

Jack Alcott will play Harrison Morgan, Dexter's son, in the revival, subtitled New Blood. A new behind-the-scenes image teased his return and showed just how much he has grown up since the conclusion of the series' eighth season. Hall can be seen standing next to Alcott on set in the forest somewhere, with both of them wearing weather appropriate clothing. Check out the image below (via Showtime):

Dexter's son was last seen leaving the country with his father's girlfriend, Hannah. Once they make it to Argentina, Dexter says goodbye to Harrison over the phone while dumping his sister Debra's body into the ocean. Now, they've somehow reconnected and it may portend bad things for the spawn of the infamous killer. Theories abound about how Harrison may be an even worse killer than Dexter and while it remains to be seen if he harbors a Dark Passenger like his father, it's certainly curious that they've found a way to reunite after all this time.

Of course, part of the plot of Dexter: New Blood includes a string of violent and mysterious incidents in the town of Iron Lake, incidents that make it difficult for Dexter to tamper the Dark Passenger. It would be a major twist for Dexter to find out that Harrison is the one behind these incidents, leading him to decide whether or not to kill his son. While this is all speculation, it would certainly make for an emotional and violent return for the once-beloved series. Dexter returns on November 7.
