Showtime releases a new Dexter: New Blood trailer giving audiences a look at what's to come for Michael C. Hall's titular killer in the revival. Developed by former Dexter showrunner Clyde Phillips and based on Jeff Lindsay's novels centered on the character, the limited series picks up 10 years after the events of the divisive series finale in which the titular character has faked his death and is living under an alias in a small New York town, suppressing his serial killer urges. However, with the arrival of his son and a string of incidents involving a new serial killer around town, Dexter fears the "Dark Passenger" within himself will once again return.

Michael C. Hall returns to lead the cast of Dexter: New Blood alongside fellow vet Jennifer Carpenter and series newcomers Julia Jones, Johnny Sequoyah, Alano Miller, Clancy Brown and Jamie Chung. The series will also feature the return of fan-favorite antagonist The Trinity Killer played by John Lithgow in a cameo appearance. As Dexter: New Blood is now kicking off, Showtime is ready to give more insight as to what audiences can expect from the rest of the season.

The latest Dexter: New Blood trailer certainly packs a heap of exciting teases of what's to come for fans of the series. Between a retaining of the original series' dark sense of humor to a twisty dynamic between his Dexter and his son, there is sure to be a lot of compelling character work in the revival. Though the video seemingly points towards Hall's titular killer going back to his old ways, it does look as though he will struggle to do so in an effort to build and maintain a relationship with his son.

It is interesting to note that the Dexter: New Blood trailer features a few indications of the show continuing on past the current chapter. With the video title labelling it as "Season 1" and the video itself describing "This season" instead of simply "Coming up" or something similar, the marketing for the series may be attempting to leave the door open in audiences' minds for the show to live on should the revival prove to be a hit for Showtime. In the meantime, audiences can catch new episodes of Dexter: New Blood airing on Showtime on Sunday nights.
