Warning! Spoilers ahead for Devil's Reign #3

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Devil's Reign, a major Daredevil character may have just met their demise. As the Kingpin continues to tighten his grip on New York City by outlawing and warring against its heroes, it seems as though the corrupt mayor isn't fond of his new opponent in the upcoming election. As a result, Wilson Fisk has chosen to send a lethal message to the heroes still attempting to fight back, potentially killing one of Matt Murdock's greatest allies and friends.

In previous issues of Devil's Reign from Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto, Wilson Fisk has been lashing out against New York's superheroes in a massive endgame. Enraged by his discovery that his mind was tampered with where he was made to forget Daredevil's secret identity, Kingpin has been pulling out all the stops. Not only has he signed new legislation to outlaw all superheroes, but he also recruited several supervillains to become his newly sanctioned Thunderbolts to arrest those who resist. Furthermore, he's also using all of the secrets and files of information he's compiled over the years, unleashing devastating attacks on every single hero while preparing to run for another term as New York's mayor and eventually running for President of the United States.

However, the heroes who haven't yet been locked up have decided to fight Fisk within the confines of the legal system, nominating Luke Cage to run against Fisk in the mayoral election. Naturally, this is something Fisk is extremely unhappy with. While Luke has Foggy Nelson as his lawyer to help him navigate the legality of his candidacy, this has put Matt Murdock's best friend and longtime legal partner in extreme jeopardy. As a result, the end of the new Devil's Reign #3 sees Fisk sending his men to seemingly silence Foggy for good.

Should it be revealed in future issues that Foggy was indeed killed by Fisk's men, readers can bet that it will send Daredevil over the edge. Not only has his recent time in prison shaken his beliefs in the justice system and its effectiveness, but Kingpin's new war has made Daredevil feel extreme guilt, seeing as how he could just tell Fisk his secret identity and Fisk would stop going after his allies (or so he's claimed). As a result, the murder of Foggy Nelson could send Daredevil down a very dark path, one that could end with Kingpin's own death by the end of Devil's Reign.

While Luke Cage could very well succeed and win the election against Fisk, it's unlikely Daredevil will be willing to stand around for much longer on the chance that Kingpin might lose his seat of power and possibly face justice. If Foggy Nelson has been murdered, Matt Murdock won't be waiting around at all. Regardless, readers will just have to wait to learn Foggy's fate and to see how Daredevil will respond as Devil's Reign continues.
