It was that time of the week again to take a stab at decoding the clues given on season 2 of The Masked Singer. The show is a top-secret singing competition where celebrities from all walks of life face off against one another while performing in elaborate costumes and masks that conceal their identity. In the past weeks of the competition, some stars have been revealed to fans such as Kelly Osbourne, Laila Ali, and Paul Shaffer. The audience votes for their favorite singer of the night which means the character with the least number of votes has to be sent home.

The Butterfly had been a sign for metamorphism for the celebrity that wore it and finally it was revealed that Michelle Williams was the star beneath its wings; But even viewers picked up on cues in the weeks prior to her reveal that she was shy and uncertain of her talent. According to People, the Destiny’s Child star had a rough 2018 where she sought out treatment for depression. The talented singer had also ended her engagement to Chad Johnson which led to her doctor to tell her to take a leave of absence from the Broadway production of Once On This Island. It was extremely disheartening for her, because she and her ex-fiancé had a reality TV show together called Chad Loves Michelle, which ended with the relationship.

With all the turmoil this past year, Williams decided to stage a comeback and on Wednesday’s night of the Masked Singer, she was finally able to hear the positive reviews of her singing voice. After singing her last song, she told the judges and audience that she was now taking back her power and working on getting her strength back. The 40-year-old announced that she was going to be okay and work on getting back out into the public realm of performing.

Even though the famous girl band never officially disbanded, the three women have only performed together in the 2013 Super Bowl and at Coachella in 2018 with the group not releasing new music in years. Williams did release her own music and star in Chicago on Broadway. So even though the singer may have had hit some rough patches, it looks like after her experience on The Masked Singer, Williams is now more ready than ever to get back in the spotlight and spread her butterfly wings.
