Destiny 2 changed the way Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit rewards are earned, and knowing how to get them will mean items like the Ascendancy Rocket Launcher can be earned sooner. While Bungie updated the Vanguard playlist to now resemble the reward system for Crucible and Gambit, all three received some improvements from seasons past. With the large plethora of content that was shared on the day Season of the Lost launched, these changes were probably overshadowed.

In addition to all three playlists now offering the same reward structure, the way rank increases occur has largely changed. In the past, win streaks in Gambit or Crucible would positively impact the way rank increased. Additionally, Gambit required many more points to rank up near the end ranks, making it virtually impossible to reset the rank unless there was a five-win streak bonus applied. The bonus still wasn't really enough, and almost wasn't worth going after Gambit until the weeks where rank points earned were tripled in Destiny 2.

In Destiny 2 Season of the Lost, the streak bonus still applies to Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit ranks. However, the biggest change is that winning no longer determines the progression of rank points. By playing and completing activities, bonus rank points will be awarded up until a fifth match is played. After that, the bonus caps, so playing the same activity over and over again is the fastest way to unlock all rewards. The Tower and HELM can be visited in between matches, but quitting or starting another activity will reset the entire activity streak. This is a big change from past seasons as well, where losing only lowered the streak by one bonus.

Season 15 Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit Rewards in Destiny 2

Destiny 2: How to Unlock the Season 15 Ritual Weapon Ornaments

Rewards for Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit in Destiny 2 Season 15 are:

  • 3 Enhancement Cores (Rank 4)
  • Playlist Shader (Rank 7)
  • 2 Enhancement Prisms (Rank 10)
  • Playlist Ghost Projection (Rank 13)
  • Ascendancy Rocket Launcher (Rank 16)
  • Ascendant Shard (Rank 16 completed and reset)

Additionally, playlist-specific engrams are awarded at each of the listed ranks. These contain a random Legendary weapon or armor piece in the world loot pool. While it's still early in the Season of the Lost, it's likely that no Destiny 2 player has already reset their rank in either Vanguard, Crucible, or Gambit playlists. This will probably change soon, but until then, based on what Bungie has told the community and what has been shown so far, reset rank rewards will most likely look like this:

  • 3 Upgrade Modules (Rank 4)
  • 3 Enhancement Cores (Rank 7)
  • 2 Enhancement Prisms (Rank 10)
  • 2 Enhancement Prisms (Rank 13)
  • Playlist Weapon Ornament for Ascendancy (Rank 16)
  • Exotic Engram (Rank 16 completed and reset)

It's anyone's guess for what the second and beyond rank resets for Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit rewards will look like after the Ascendancy Weapon Ornament is earned, but it's probably additional Upgrade Modules, Enhancement Cores, or Enhancement Prisms - instead of another new Season of the Lost weapon.
