The Stormchaser Linear Fusion Rifle is a brand new weapon in Destiny 2 and both its god roll and specific archetype combination make it the first of its kind. Stormchaser has an Aggressive Frame which, on a Linear Fusion Rifle specifically, allows it to fire a three-round burst. Linear Fusion Rifles are already some of the best damage dealers against bosses, and Stormchaser's three-round burst allows pushes those damage numbers ahead of any other weapon of this type.
One of the challenges of acquiring a Stormchaser god roll is that the weapon can't be crafted in Destiny 2, so Guardians must rely upon RNG to get what they're searching for. Fortunately, there are multiple encounters in the Duality Dungeon that reward this weapon, as well as the two secret chests. Like all secret chests across Dungeon and Raid activities alike in Destiny 2, the two found in Duality will only reward players with the new Linear Fusion Rifle if they previously acquired it in their collections. This means that, for example, Stormchaser can be found in a secret chest while players complete Duality for the first time on their Warlock if their Hunter or Titan already received the weapon.
Stormchaser can only be earned from The Vault and Calus's Greatest Shame encounters, and then it can be reacquired from the secret chests. The first secret chest is located in the room with the four Cabal statues inside of a doorway along the wall. Near the tenth Repressed Memory location in the Duality Dungeon, underneath the white structure in Calus' vault, is an opening that will lead to the second secret chest.
The Best Perks For Stromchaser In Destiny 2
The substantial amount of damage that Stormchaser deals during its three-round burst allow it to defeat enemy Guardians in PvP with body shots. Like All Linear Fusion Rifles, Stormchaser's best barrels include Arrowhead Brake, Corkscrew Rifling, Hammer-Forged Rifling, and Fluted Barrel. However, for PvE activities specifically, Guardians may want to opt for Extended Barrel or Smallbore purely for the range and stability benefits. Enhanced Battery and Ionized Battery are all better suited for PvE while Particle Repeater and Projection Fuse are best suited for PvP activities. However, Accelerated Coils and Liquid Coils are the best universal battery perks for Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit activities in Destiny 2. Lastly, Stormchaser has some outstanding third and fourth perk column combinations:
- 1. Clown Cartridge/Firing Line - This is the god roll for Stormchaser, though Firing Line needs two more allies to proc.
- 2. Clown Cartridge/Vorpal Weapon, Frenzy - Although Vorpal Weapon and Frenzy deal less damage against bosses percentage-wise compared to Firing Line, they are easier to activate.
- 3. Auto-Loading/Firing Line, Vorpal Weapon, Frenzy - Auto-Loading is a good substitute for Clown Cartridge.
- 4. Rapid-Hit/Firing Line, Vorpal Weapon, Frenzy - Rapid-Hit increases stability and reload speed with each precision hit, which can stack up quickly with Stormchaser's three-round burst.
