Guardians will have to stop the Vex once again with the reveal of Destiny 2's Season of the Splicer trailer, and Destiny's Vault of Glass is returning. Destiny 2 players have been battling for class supremacy in the Guardian Games that returned April 20. However, many players have complained about the new transmog system's convoluted process and the cap on how many pieces of armor can use transmog per season. Additionally, the difficult-to-earn currency to transmog armor, Synthweave, can be purchased from Eververse for real-world money.

Season 14 marks the end of the Season of the Chosen. Season 13 introduced new armors, a new exotic bow and a new three-person activity called Battlegrounds. Storywise, Empress Caiatl, daughter of Calus and leader of the Cabal, was introduced as the next big bad that Guardians needed to take down. It also reintroduced the Guardian Games, a new exotic quest, and more. Recent seasons have brought back favorites from the original Destiny, like the original Comosdrome. Bungie calls this process the Destiny Content Vault.

Shown in Destiny 2's YouTube channel, a preview of upcoming content is shown for the new season. Guardians will have to track down Mithrax, Kell of the House of Light and a Sacred Splicer, to stop a Vex simulation that has taken over the Last City. Players will be able to engage in a new six-person activity called Override, which has players hacking into the Vex network. Returning in Season 14 is the Vault of Glass raid, the very first of its kind that debuted in the original Destiny. Additionally, players can obtain a new Exotic Stasis sidearm called the Cryosythesia 77K either through drops or the Season Pass. Players with the weapon can fire a special Stasis round that instantly freezes an enemy.

With Season 14 comes Armor Synthesis, otherwise known as the transmog system. A new area within the Tower will also unlock allowing players to use the new Splicer Gauntlet to unlock Splicer upgrades. The gauntlet will also unlock specific chests and "hack the Vex Network" once charged with Ether. On Bungie's developer blog, the overview for the season also lists when new activities for the season will go live. Curiously, there is something called the Epilogue coming August 10, which may be a follow-up to the season's story or a transition into The Witch Queen expansion coming in 2022.

Bungie's work with Destiny 2 is nowhere close to being over. The company laid out what the next two years of Destiny 2 will look like in 2020. However, recent developer comments have said the game would live on with even more content after the Light and Darkness story arc ends. However, Bungie will need to fix the issues like the transmog system and the game's grind to make it that far.
