The current season of Destiny 2 is coming to a close, and the final season of Year 3 has been confirmed to be called the Season of Arrivals. The game recently held a live in-game event, which marked the end of the current Season of the Worthy. Destiny 2’s next expansion is also expected to be unveiled along with Year 3’s final season.

Destiny 2 has changed the way their Seasons work since the release of the current Shadowkeep expansion. Starting with last year’s Season of the Undying, Bungie has introduced a two-tiered battle pass system wherein players can earn rewards by participating in various activities during the season. While all the players may receive the rewards in the free tier of the battle pass, only players who have purchased the season pass will be eligible for the second tier. The new system also introduced Season-exclusive content that is removed at the end of each Season.

The name of the final season of Destiny 2 Year 3 was spotted on the Australian PlayStation Store and was shared by Destiny 2 News on Twitter. The name was seen as part of a Silver bundle which packages the season pass with some Silver (the game's microtransaction currency) and a “Strange Visitors” legendary emote. The listing also gave mention to what could be interpreted as the potential release date of the game’s next expansion. The listing alludes to the amount of hard drive storage required for the game starting from September 22, which could be seen as the launch date of the new expansion.

The listing doesn’t go into detail about what the Season of Arrivals will bring content-wise but with the recently released teaser video showing The Drifter heading toward Europa as well as the now-deleted teaser showing Eris Morn struggling through a snowstorm in an icy tundra that looks very much like Europa, it’s possible that the Season of Arrivals may have some connection to those video as the final season of Year 3 transitions into the game’s next expansion.

We won’t have to wait very long to find out to confirm all the leaks, teasers, and rumors that have come out for Destiny 2’s next season and next expansion as the company has set a big reveal event on June 9, 2020. It also makes sense that the company plans to unveil both the final season of Year 3 as well as the Year 4 expansion at the same time as the narratives of both will inevitably tie in with each other.
