The Rippling Wings seasonal challenge is one of the more puzzling objectives in Destiny 2, as players are tasked with collecting three Moths and destroying three Darkness Rifts. Although this seasonal challenge was issued during week four of Season of the Risen, it's likely going to be the challenge that gives the most amount of Guardians a difficult time because there isn't much direction on how to complete it. In fact, Rippling Wings is a multi-step challenge that requires multiple things to have already been accomplished beforehand in Destiny 2.

Before Rippling Wings can be completed, players will first have to beat The Witch Queen campaign, then proceed to complete the "Of Queens and Worms" to get the Parasite Exotic Grenade Launcher. Parasite has a unique Exotic perk called Worm Byproduct, where Guardians who take damage from their own worm projectile detonation empower their weapons for a short time. This buff is the key to destroying Darkness Rifts across the Throne World, and players can begin the Exotic quest to get the Parasite Grenade Launcher in Destiny 2 by speaking with Mara Sov in the basement of the pyramid at the Enclave on Mars once the campaign has been beaten, with any character. Of Queens and Worms is a 17-step quest that takes roughly two or three hours to complete at most.

There are 10 Lucent Moths and 10 Darkness Drifts scattered across the Throne World, even though players only need three of each to complete the challenge. However, finding all Lucent Moths will reward players with the Lepidopterist triumph, and destroying all Darkness Rifts will complete the No Peeking triumph as well. With both triumphs complete, players will have two of the nine triumphs needed to unlock the Gumshoe title from The Witch Queen expansion.

Where To Find All Darkness Rifts In Destiny 2

Destiny 2: Where To Find All Of The Darkness Rift Locations

Head to the following locations to find all Darkness Rifts in Destiny 2. To destroy a rift, shoot the Parasite Grenade Launcher close enough to inflict self-damage without killing the Guardian, then shoot the whisp.

  • Extraction Lost Sector: Look above the chest to find the Darkness Rift.
  • Sepulcher Lost Sector: Look to the left of the Lost Sector reward chest.
  • Metamorphosis Lost Sector: Activate Worm's Byproduct, then take the lift at the end of the Lost Sector and look down to find the Darkness Rift.
  • Temple of the Cunning: Head up the pathway that the Guardians used to escape the Temple of the Cunning on pikes during the campaign. Take the path to the right just after passing the swinging chandeliers to find the Darkness Rift up and to the right on a rock ledge in the archway. This Darkness Rift can also be completed during a repeat of this mission in The Witch Queen expansion's campaign.
  • Towards the Alluring Curtain: Instead of taking the path to the Florescent Canal, take the right-side path towards the Alluring Canal. The Darkness Rift is inside the first building on the path to the Alluring Canal.
  • Florescent Canal: Open up the map, and head to the area of the Florescent Canal that juts out in the southeast direction. The Darkness Rift is behind the small building.
  • Court of Thorns: Head towards the Court of Thorns down the right side of the bridge, then look up to the left-most center spike overlooking the bridge. Shoot the area to find the Darkness Rift's "immune" status first, then use the Worm's Byproduct effect to destroy it. Use the image above as a reference point for where to shoot. It may be easier to spot with one of the scoped weapons in Destiny 2.
  • Queen's Bailey: The Queen's Bailey is located north of the Florescent Canal, where Guardians first entered the Throne World and the start of the Lightblade Strike. Upon entering this area, look to the left at the Thrall statue to find the Darkness Rift.
  • Vow Of The Disciple: Head to the entrance of the Vow of the Disciple Raid to find the Darkness Rift next to the right-most statue.
  • The Mirror or Altar of Reflection: In the final room of The Mirror campaign mission or the Altar of Reflection quest, look to the left to find the last Darkness Rift.

Where To Find All Lucent Moths In Destiny 2

After finding Lucent Moths, they need to be turned into the research cave to the right of Fynch in the Throne World in order for them to count towards the Rippling Wings season challenge in Destiny 2.

  • Quagmire: Head towards the Extraction Lost Sector, but turn right to go through the tunnel toward the Hive. Kill the Hive Wizard to lift the barrier of the Moth in the tunnel.
  • Alluring Curtain: Follow the path through the Alluring Curtain. After crossing the swinging platform and landing down into the next area full of Hive, defeat the boss to reveal the next Lucent Moth.
  • Apothecary: Continue from the Alluring Curtain moth to the Apothecary. Instead of going inside the palace, head to the left side of the overlook to find a Deepsight node. Destroy the five Hive runes to reveal the Lucent Moth.
  • Miasma: From the Quagmire landing zone, travel to the Miasma, past the Vow of the Disciple raid entrance, to find a Lucent Moth on a tree branch. Open the map, and go to the tree that is north of the "S" in the Miasma label.
  • Witch's Echo: Head into the Witch's Echo and go past the teleporter to take a left down the hallway after reaching the area with the Scorn. Use the Deepsight node in the next room, then turn to the left to find the Lucent Moth.
  • Temple of the Wrathful: From the previous moth, continue down the pathway that leads deeper into the Temple of the Wrathful. Defeat Captain Taksisaa where the Scorn Tank would have been, and a barrier will drop to reveal the moth.
  • Temple of the Cunning: After grabbing the Temple of the Wrathful moth, continue to the Witch Queen's Temple of the Cunning. The Lucent Moth will be on top of a top of a structure in the room immediately following the narrow tunnel system.
  • Florescent Canal: Reach the Florescent Canal fountain to find a Lucent Moth on swirling around the water on a lilypad-like item.
  • Court of Thorns: At the beginning of Wellspring: Defend or end of Wellspring: Attack, go to the room that is on the far side from the Pyramid Splinter. The Lucent Moth will be in the hand of a Thrall statue on the left side of the room.
  • Altars of Reflection: After solving the puzzle and moving into the next room, activate the Deepsight node on the right platform. Afterward, turn around and climb the newly revealed platforms to find the final Lucent Moth location in Destiny 2.
