Destiny 2's 30th Anniversary Pack brought many new activities and weapons that shook up the previous PvE and PvP meta's players were used to. The pack also came with Destiny 2's biggest sandbox update ever, which made many obsolete perks/exotic weapons and armor much more viable. All of this, combined with some of the most lethal seasonal artifact mods in Destiny 2's history, can make for some powerful and fun builds in PvE. While Titans and Warlocks have generally dominated the PvE space for both normal and endgame content, there is one Hunter build available in Season 15 that is drawing players' attention; the Revenant Assassin build.

Hunters have gotten the short end of the PvE stick in Destiny 2 the past few seasons. Their dominance in PvP due to exotic armor or abilities has led to nerfs that have made them less desirable to play in PvE modes. But, thanks to the mods available on season 15's Wayfinder artifact as well as some new weapons from the 30th Anniversary Packs new dungeon, this revenant hunter assassin build maximizes survivability and damage output for fireteams in any activity. This build utilizes one of the Hunter's most underrated exotic helmets, Assassin's Cowl, to make one of the coolest and most powerful builds in the game currently for normal or endgame activities.

Assassin's Cowl allows Hunters to go invisible and instantly regenerate health upon landing any powered melee kill or finisher. The more powerful the targets defeated are will determine how long the player will become invisible for as well as increase the amount of health the player will regenerate upon the kill/finisher. Hunter's stasis melee abilities, combined with a few of Destiny 2's stasis aspects, allow for Hunter's to have their melee abilities charged almost all the time. All of this on top of Season 15's artifact mods that increase damage output for certain abilities and weapons make this Hunter build top tier for PvE content.

The Revenant Hunter Assassin Build for Destiny 2

Revenant Assassin Hunter in Destiny 2

This Destiny 2 build is all about keeping the player's melee charged in order to always have a way to go invisible/regenerate health as well as maximize the fireteams damage output using artifact mods. Here's what players should run:

Revenant Abilities:

  • Gambler’s Dodge:  Dodging near enemies fully recharges your Melee Ability.
  • Triple Jump: While airborne, sustain air control with a second or third jump.
  • Withering Blade: Toss a Stasis Shuriken at targets to damage and slow them. Provides multiple charges.
  • Duskfield Grenade: A grenade that shatters on impact, leaving behind a field that slows targets and freezes those who do not leave the affected area.

Revenant Aspects:

  • Grim Harvest: Defeating slowed or frozen combatants create Stasis shards. These shards grant melee energy when picked up by the player or their fireteam.
  • Touch of Winter: Duskfield Grenade increases the slow-field area and creates a small Stasis crystal on impact.

Revenant Fragments:

  • Whisper of Fractures: Melee energy recharges faster when near two or more enemy targets (-10 discipline).
  • Whisper of Fissure: Increases the size and damage of the burst of stasis crystals or frozen targets.
  • Whisper of Durance: Slow from stasis abilities lasts longer. For abilities that linger, their duration also increases (+10 strength).

Weapons:

  • Eyasluna: new to Destiny 2. Any roll with the perk Headstone will work.
  • Cartesian Coordinate: Any roll with Vorpal Weapon.
  • Sleeper stimulant: The weapon's laser over penetrates enemies and refracts off hard surfaces.
Destiny 2 Adds Halo Weapons

Exotic Armor/Armor Mods:

  • Assassin's Cowl: Powered melee final blows grant invisibility and restore a portion of health and shields. Finishers and final blows against more powerful targets increase the duration of the invisibility and the amount of health and shields restored in Destiny 2.
  • Linear Fusion Rifle Ammo Finder (Helmet): Find more Linear Fusion Rifle ammo.
  • Linear Fusion Rifle Loader (Gauntlets): Reload Linear  Fusion Rifles faster.
  • Linear Fusion Rifle Ammo Reserves (Chest): Carry more Linear  Fusion Rifle ammo.
  • LinearFusion Rifle Ammo Scavenger (Boots): Pick up more Linear Fusion Rifle ammo off the ground.

Artifact/Class Item Mods:

  • Particle Deconstruction (Class Item Artifact Mod): Dealing damage to a combatant with a Fusion Rifle or Linear Fusion Rifle grants bonus damage with a Fusion Rifle or Linear Fusion Rifle against that combatant for a short duration. This effect stacks up to 5 times.
  • Focusing Lens (Class Item Artifact Mod):  Light abilities do bonus damage to combatants affected by Stasis.

The Revenant Hunter Assassin build can be brought into any PvE activity the game has to offer. It's great in Destiny 2's new Dares of Eternity, where players will be able to go invisible at any time as well as take advantage of the artifact mod Focusing Lens to allow players in the fireteam to deal more damage when standing in a Warlock's Well of Radiance or by using their light ability super on the bosses. Players will also want to try and max out their strength stat as much as possible, just to recharge the melee ability even faster.
