The Osteo Striga is an Exotic SMG that players can get in Destiny 2 within The Witch Queen expansion, but it isn't readily available to all players immediately. Instead, the Osteo Striga is only available to players who purchased the Deluxe Edition of The Witch Queen expansion, but before players can get the weapon they'll have to beat the campaign first. The Witch Queen campaign can be completed on either difficulty, though players may find it easier to beat the campaign on Legendary difficulty so their Power Level is significantly higher by the time they can get the new SMG.

The new Exotic SMG is a Kinetic weapon that, like all of the Exotic primaries in Destiny 2 after the update, benefits from the 40% damage increase to red bars. The Osteo Striga also has a brand new Exotic trait called Toxic Overload, where landing a final blow or multiple headshots triggers a burst of poisonous energy that damages any target caught within the blast. As many players have already discovered, the Necrotic Grip Warlock gauntlets synergize nicely with this weapon, allowing players to continuously spread a poisonous effect from one enemy to another as they're defeated.

Although it can't be used during the first playthrough of the campaign, players should definitely use Osteo Striga on their other characters once they get their hands on it. After the campaign has been completed, players can get Osteo Striga by using the new weapon crafting system in The Witch Queen by visiting the Enclave on Mars. Although the new SMG has several perks that players can choose to build it with, it doesn't have any traits like Hawkmoon or Dead Man's Tail did with their random rolls, such as Rangefinder and Vorpal Weapon.

How To Craft Osteo Striga (& Its Catalyst) In Destiny 2

How To Craft Osteo Striga (& Its Catalyst) In Destiny 2

Both Osteo Striga and its catalyst are craftable items in Destiny 2, though players have to first unlock the ability to craft the catalyst once Osteo Striga is built. To unlock the catalyst, players need to increase the SMG's level to 10, and then use the appropriate materials to craft it. The Osteo Striga catalyst allows the poison final blows to return ammo to the magazine, so it works similarly to the Subsistence trait. Additionally, crafting the catalyst significantly increases Osteo Striga's Reload Speed and Stability.

Players should prepare to grind for crafting materials because much like the new Exotic Glaives in Destiny 2, crafting Osteo Striga and its catalyst will cost several Ascendant Alloys. Ascendant Alloys are a new Exotic rarity crafting material that has very few ways to obtain them. Currently, the easiest way to get more Ascendant Alloy is by purchasing the allotted one per week from Master Rahool. Ascendant Alloys can also be obtained by reaching level 16 in Banshee's vendor rank, as well as by completing a harder difficulty story mission once players reach Fynch rank 13 in Destiny 2's new Throne World location.
