Destiny 2 is a multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Bungie. Allowing for co-op strikes, PvE missions, and a variety of PvP playstyles, Destiny 2 has a lot of activities for players to engage in every season. The current season (Season of the Worthy), has many features like a new story campaign and new public events—but for PvPers there is nothing more impressive than the Trials of Osiris.

This Crucible activity, which is only available from Friday to Tuesday, can only be entered if the player has a power level over 960 and has a three-person fire team at the ready. This special PvP mode rewards continued wins and has the potential to reward players with high-tear gear and access to an area called “The Lighthouse”. So below are some tips on how to advance in the Trials of Osiris.

Gear Up in Destiny 2

It should go without saying, but players should have their best gear equipped when entering what many consider the pinnacle of PvP. Depending on the player’s class and playstyle there are several armor sets to choose from such as the menagerie armor set, vanguard armor set, crucible gear, etc.

But whatever the choice, it is important that that gear is upgraded as far as it can go and is tailored to a specific playstyle. If that means the player has to perform additional non-Trials-of-Osiris quests in order to get additional upgrade materials, then so be it. Better to go in prepared.

But whatever the choice in gear, players may want to focus on improving their recovery and mobility stats. In any PvP match, having the mobility to let players get in and out of gunfire even a second earlier can mean the difference between victory and defeat. The same goes for recovery, which determines how quickly a player can recover health when hit. Odds are opponents will already know how to mow down players who overly rely on defensive stats, so having the ability to just not get hit and continue the fight will likely prove useful.

Practice Makes Perfect in Destiny 2's Trials of Osiris

Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Delay Good

With the trials being as cutthroat as they are, there is little to no room for imperfection. So it is recommended that players polish their skill in other Crucible matches before they approach the Trials of Osiris. Brush up on skills, tactics, gear builds, etc. Just continue practicing until the player finds the PvP style they prefer and master it.

This would also be the ideal time to practice alongside the fireteam the player will take to the trial. With the trials focusing on team battles, working with allies to develop a seamless sense of teamwork can only prove beneficial to anyone who wants to progress in the Trials of Osiris.

Revival Points are Important in Destiny 2’s Trials of Osiris

The Trials of Osiris focus on player elimination, but that does not mean a downed guardian can’t be brought back in the game. The game mode permits an unlimited amount of revives, so that means players should revive their downed teammates whenever possible. That additional player could easily tip the scales in your favor.

Similarly, if an opponent is struck down, then staying near where they died is an option. It can make for a good ambush point since opposing guardians will likely try to make their way toward their fallen comrade. On the other hand, staying near those locations also drastically increases the chances of the player encountering two opponents at once. So guard that spawn point at your own peril.

Move Unpredictably in Destiny 2's Trials of Osiris

An opponent who moves predictably is an opponent who dies quickly. Players should almost always be on the move in a PvP match and the trials are no different. Move behind cover, start jumping mid-shootout, etc. If you see a teammate shooting at an opponent from one angle, try approaching them from a separate angle.

If possible, move behind an opponent before shooting. Because more often than not the opposing guardian will not react quickly enough to stop themselves from dying. But of course, in most matches, this may not be possible. Still, it is always a good rule of thumb to keep on moving.

Tactical Retreats are OK in Destiny 2’s Trials of Osiris

In a similar vein to moving unpredictably, it is important to remember that running away is a viable strategy. With the Trials of Osiris rewarding complete no-death victories, players should make survival a main priority.

So if the opponent has significantly more firepower, or if the opposing team is barreling towards the player all at once—run away. There’s no shame in it. Run away and either regroup with your teammates or go after someone else. It’s better than dying in a fight that can’t be won.
