Destiny 2’s “Unfinished Business” quest is the main way players have of acquiring the Deterministic Chaos Exotic Machine Gun during Year 6 after the Lightfall expansion. The new weapon combines Neomuna technology with Vex intelligence to create a heavy-hitting and fun Machine Gun. The Void type weapon can be acquired in a post-campaign endeavor with many steps. Luckily, these steps are quite easy to accomplish, both in a Fireteam or solo.

This endeavor is Destiny 2’s “Unfinished Business”, one of the Exotic weapons missions unlocked after finishing the main storyline in the Lightfall campaign. The Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion allows players to grab this weapon, which is related to the new characters, Rohan and Nimbus, and use it to defeat the threat on Neptune. The Exotic questline will even take players to the Garden of Salvation raid map. They can rest assured, however, that completing it is not as challenging as a raid.

All The Steps In Destiny 2’s Unfinished Business Quest

To complete Destiny 2’s “Unfinished Business” quest, players will need to complete a total of 13 different steps. While some of them are simply talking to NPCs, others are farming or challenging missions that require more player dedication than usual.

Overall, this is easier than Destiny 2’s “Desperate Measures” quest on Legendary difficulty, so there is no need for concern if players are experienced with harder activities.

Destiny 2: Unfinished Business Steps, Description, & Tips

Step 1

Visit the Hall of Heroes: This will happen after the end of the Lightfall campaign and after unlocking Strand in Destiny 2. It is noticeable for a fairly emotional cutscene.

Step 2

Talk to Nimbus.

Step 3

Collect Cypher Qubits from Vex and extract data with Cloud Accretions. This step requires players to kill Vex in Neomuna and with the Cypher Qubits, extract data from the regional resource. Each extraction requires five Qubits and a total of eight extractions are needed, meaning players will need to collect a total of 40 Cypher Qubits. The ideal strategy is killing off Vex and getting the required amount, and then focusing on finding Cloud Accretions to complete the extractions. By using a Resource Detector Tracking Mod in Destiny 2's Ghost Shell, players can find the resources without much effort.

Step 4

Go to Maya's Retreat. Players will need to head over to the Cloud Striders' meditation spot (where Guardians trained their Strand abilities).

Step 5

Survive the Vex incursion and collect the final data packet. This step just requires killing off opponents and there is no death penalty, so it can be done rather easily.

Step 6

Go to the Radiosonde area in Neomuna. Players can get there quickly by teleporting to Límíng Harbor and then following the tracked quest's waypoints. This will take players into an area they explore during the Lightfall campaign. They will need to defeat a few Vex on their way to Nimbus and Osiris in Destiny 2.

Step 7

Complete Límíng Harbor's Lost Sector to obtain the Vex Compass. This is the Thrilladrome Lost Sector in Neomuna. Players will need to fight many Vex throughout a Neptunian arcade and, in the end, defeat the boss. There is no secret here, so they need only claim the boss' chest to claim the Vex Compass item.

Step 8

Draw Shadow Legion to Ahimsa Park and away from the Typhon Imperator. This is a grinding activity in which players need to defeat 100 enemies in Ahimsa Park. Using Strand abilities for kills grants additional progress toward the required 100.

Step 9

Board Calus' new ship in Destiny 2, Typhon Imperator, and find the Seed of Silver Wings. Players will need to make their way through the area previously explored in the campaign until they reach the large circular arena; the same in which Caiatl saves them from impending doom during the Lightfall storyline. Players will need to interact with two items, each on opposite sides of the room and shielded. Defeating enemies lifts the shields and when both are interacted with, they will be able to claim the Seed of Silver Wings from the middle of the arena.

Step 10

Return to Nimbus, the vendor in Destiny 2's Neomuna map.

Step 11

Complete the "What Remains" mission. This step will take players to the Garden of Salvation raid map. Here, they will fight through a large group of Vex and solve some puzzles that require ricocheting bullets on mirrors to destroy Vex shields. After this, they will eventually locate the Deterministic Chaos Exotic Machine Gun. After a short interaction with Nimbus, they will be able to claim and equip the weapon. This initiates a trial session, with large pools of auto-replenishing Heavy Ammo for players to seize. They will need to fight more Vex and ultimately defeat an easy boss.

Step 12

Return to Nimbus after concluding the "What Remains" quest.

Step 13

Return to the Hall of Heroes and interact with the required location. This will conclude the "Unfinished Business" questline.

Despite not being as good as the Quicksilver Storm Exotic Auto Rifle in Destiny 2, for example, the Deterministic Chaos Machine Gun obtained through the “Unfinished Business” questline is a fun and easy weapon to use. Its Exotic Perks make it operate a bit differently from other automatic weapons.

Every fourth bullet fired while holding down the trigger is transformed into a heavy projectile that weakens opponents. Additionally, the fourth bullet also makes the hit enemy Volatile. This makes it excellent for Volatile Void builds, regardless of the class that equips it.

Although Void builds may lack sheer power when compared to the powerful Solar and Arc 3.0 builds, Volatile Rounds builds in Destiny 2 can cause massive amounts of damage and even spread the effects across multiple enemies. For players who use this, obtaining Deterministic Chaos is a necessity.

The good thing is that Destiny 2’s “Unfinished Business” quest is a very easy one to complete. The main challenge is not even surviving any hard encounters, but getting through the farming activities, especially the one that requires gathering Cypher Qubits and finding Cloud Accretions.
