The Witch Queen expansion for Destiny 2 is finally here, and there are tons of new exotic weapons and armor to discover. Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans each have two brand new exotic pieces of armor to find, and they seem to be some of the best exotic armor pieces ever for each class in Destiny 2. However, one exotic piece of armor that stands out is Warlock exclusive 'Secant Filaments' exotic boots, which could be the best Warlock exotic ever following the void sub-class buffs in Destiny 2. These boots not only work in complete synergy with Warlocks 'Voidwalker 3.0', but they also add overload rounds to any weapon in the game through the use of empowering rifts, making them one of the most useful armor pieces in all of Destiny 2.
The description of Secant Filments reads, "Casting an empowering rift will grant the player Devour. Damage dealt by the player and their allies from within the players' empowering rift will disrupt combatants." The first perk alone makes these exotics one of the best warlock exotics ever after the Void 3.0 update. Devour is buff applied to Warlocks after void ability kills but can also be gained through different methods using new Void Aspects and Fragments in Destiny 2. One of these Fragments allows Warlocks to begin regenerating health as soon as Devour is applied, which means this exotic turns players' rifts into Empowering AND Healing rifts at the same time.
On top of all of that, Empowering rifts now disrupt combatants with these Exotic Boots equipped. This is the first time a piece of exotic armor could stun Champions and is actually insane because it completely negates the Overload mods of any given season. With a rift that allows any weapon to disrupt Overload Champions as long as they don't have another champion mod already equipped, Nightfalls and Solo Lost Sectors just became a lot easier. These boots can turn any of the best Exotic Weapons in Destiny 2 into an overload champion melter.
How To Get The Secant Filaments Warlock Exotic in Destiny 2
Acquiring these boots will take a fair amount of grind in this season of Destiny 2. The quickest way to get The Secant Filaments is to clear all Witch Queen's campaign missions on Legendary difficulty as a Warlock. This is no easy feat, but after beating the legendary campaign, players will be given 1520 power leveled gear and the choice to acquire one of the two new exotic armor pieces for each class, Secant Filaments included. The other exotic that is not chosen, like most new exotic armor pieces added to the game, will only be able to be acquired from a solo Legend or Master Lost Sector. Players who don't clear the legendary campaign will have to clear one of those Lost Sectors to get the boots.
Any Warlock player in Destiny 2 should be looking to grab these boots as soon as possible. The Secant Filaments provide so many different and fluent synergies with Void 3.0/endgame level content that it will become the staple exotic for most Warlocks. While the other new Warlock exotic, 'Osmiomancy Gloves,' is a top-tier stasis exotic, the Secant Filaments are an absolute game-changer.
