Sporest of Beasts is a new Triumph in Destiny 2's Season of the Haunted, which gives players the task of dispatching the Nightmare of Carun, Beastmaster. This achievement is one small part of unlocking the seasonal title Reaper in Destiny 2. Carun, Beastmaster is a powerful elite Nightmare aboard the Derelict Leviathan. Unfortunately, the encounter can be rather hard to find based on the in-game Triumph description, which reads, "Clear the Haunted Alcove guarded by resting hounds." However, the Nightmare of Carun, Beastmaster, can be found inside the Pleasure Gardens and spawns on a timer.
Players that are having trouble navigating the ship can warp to the Castellum Landing Zone. Heading north, Guardians want to make a right from the third unlit brazier. The tunnel leading to the Pleasure Gardens will be on the opposite side of the middle area. Similar to the location of the Nightmare Breached Triumph in Destiny 2, this Haunted Alcove may not be obvious at first glance. However, near the giant golden statue of Calus in the center of the room, players can drop down through a hatch in the domed structure, entering the arena.
This area might seem familiar to those that challenged the Leviathan Raid in the past, as this was the safe spot during the War Beast encounter. The Nightmare of Carun, Beastmaster is an elite enemy and will take time to respawn upon defeat. Guardians in the Pleasure Gardens will be notified of his event because they will receive a message above their abilities that reads, "A distant snore of sleeping War Beasts...." There will be a few sleeping Nightmare War Beasts in the enclosure that must be defeated to start the fight.
How To Defeat The Nightmare of Carun, Beastmaster in Destiny 2
Waves of lesser Nightmares will spawn, and then, Carun, Beastmaster, will reveal himself. Bringing the Parasite Exotic Grenade Launcher in Destiny 2 works wonders for this fight. The confined area allows for the explosions to hit all targets and the Exotic Trait empowers the weapon, on the condition that Guardians are damaged by the detonation. The Beastmaster has a tremendous amount of health and can also pack a punch. Players that are getting overwhelmed can utilize the boulder in the area for some cover. Once vanquished, Guardians will earn the Sporest of Beasts Triumph.
Every time a Haunted Alcove is cleared, a loot chest spawns. These appear to have a higher chance of rewarding an Opulent Key and can also contain Haunted weapons or armor. Carun, Beastmaster is only one of the many elite Nightmares on the Derelict Leviathan. Guardians that wish to earn the Reaper title should be on the lookout for all the Haunted Alcoves hidden in Season of the Haunted.
