Week four of Destiny 2's Season of the Haunted has arrived, bringing new challenges and the next step in the Bound in Sorrow questline. The first week revealed the arrival of the Derelict Leviathan. On board, players find that the ship has been infested with Nightmares, similar to those found during the Shadowkeep expansion. Eris, Commander Zavala, and Crow perform a Binding Ritual, attaching a personal Nightmare to each character. Guardians are tasked with cleansing the Leviathan and severing Calus's connection to the Darkness. Week four continues this mission and brings a conclusion to Zavala's participation in the Severance Ritual.

The first two weeks involved Crow's struggle to face his personal Nightmare, Uldren Sov. After coming to grips with his past life, he and the Guardian are able to finish the first Severance Ritual. The story continued in week three of Destiny 2's Bound in Sorrow with Commander Zavala. In the Underbelly of the Leviathan, Zavala is wrought with grief after his personal Nightmare; Safiyah reminds him of his tragic past. Refusing to come to terms with his choices, Zavala leaves the Severance Ritual uncompleted.

Week four brings Guardians back to the Underbelly of the Leviathan for a reattempt at the failed ceremony. Before the mission, players need to acquire another Bound Presence. After talking to Eris at the HELM, a tier-three Nightmare Containment Ritual must be completed on the Derelict Leviathan. At the end of the Public Event, a Bound Presence can be earned by interacting with the relic, expending 500 Vestiges of Dread. The next step requires that players launch the Sever - Forgiveness activity from the Moon destination in Destiny 2.

Upon arrival, Guardians will notice a familiar setting, as this is the same area that was visited the previous week. This time, however, the electrical field at the starting area is still disabled from last time. The first barrier players face is a locked door that requires the use of a wrench found on the opposite side of the center room. Deeper inside, Guardians will need to defeat waves of enemies, disabling a barrier that blocks platforms leading up to Zavala. The commander ushers players past as he prepares himself mentally for the task ahead. Before heading to the ritual site, there is an Egregore plant that must be shot, granting the buff to pass through a pipe a couple of steps back. Finally, the ceremony can be started, beginning with the final boss encounter.

After the Sever activity is completed, Guardians must travel to the HELM in Destiny 2There, they can speak to Commander Zavala about the events that occurred during the mission. Finally, ending the questline for this week, players need to report to Eris at the Crown of Sorrows. With Zavala's Severence Ritual finished, Guardians are drawing ever closer to completely shutting off Calus's connection to the Darkness.
