A recent Destiny 2 glitch may have revealed some massive plot spoilers for the end of Season of the Worthy by giving players a glimpse into the future. Destiny 2 leaks this season have revealed a number of potentially huge events coming to the game to cap off a season that's been disappointing for many players. (SPOILERS BELOW)

Early in the season, dataminers uncovered evidence that Felwinter’s Lie, a popular shotgun from the first Destiny, was returning in the sequel. The legendary weapon is said to be tied to a quest that could see the revival - in one form or another - of former Iron Lord Felwinter. A few weeks later, an even bigger bomb dropped when the same dataminer found a video in Destiny 2’s update files showing what appear to be Darkness ships passing by Jupiter. During the Season of the Worthy, Warmind Rasputin has been tracking the movement of Darkness ships, so the old enemy’s appearance wasn’t a total surprise, but it did hint that it could be at work on Jupiter or just getting closer to Earth and the Tower.

A new leak shows that the Tower may have enough to worry about as it is. According to Reddit user PaperMartin, two players have encountered a glitch that let them explore a previously unseen version of the Tower that’s suffered some major damage. In screenshots shared by Destiny 2 player tic-toc26, the Tower is littered with debris and large chunks of its structure have been reduced to rubble. The players reportedly encountered the glitch while simply loading into the Tower, not by intentionally seeking it out.

Destiny 2 Destroyed Tower

While the changes to the familiar Tower are dramatic, it’s still not entirely clear what caused them. The most obvious answer would be the season-long struggle to deal with the Almighty, the Cabal ship currently on a crash course with the Guardians’ home base. The Season of the Worthy could end with Rasputin’s plan failing, or at least succeeding with some major casualties. A more distant possibility could be that the damage results from the first clash with the Darkness on the Traveler’s home turf.

Whatever the cause of the damage ends up being, it’s encouraging to see that Bungie seems to be ready to make big changes to its game. If the developer is willing to damage the one truly safe space in Destiny 2, it may be willing to shake things up even further. With the Darkness on the horizon, it seems like changes will be coming sooner rather than later, but the Season of the Worthy’s lackluster beginning has players hoping for something new in the short term.
