Developer Bungie has disabled Destiny 2's newest exotic item, the Radiant Dance Machines, in competitive player vs player modes. The online multiplayer first-person shooter allows players to explore a unique and ever-expanding sci-fi universe as they collect loot and mow down foes. Launched on August 24, Destiny 2's Season of the Lost brought new weapons and loot, including a returning item from the game's predecessor.

Destiny 2's Season of the Lost includes a unique exotic pair of boots, called the Radiant Dance Machines, which make a return from the first Destiny. While the first game's boots increased players' movement speed, the version of the boots added to Destiny 2 function quite differently. The sequel's Radiant Dance Machines allow multiple uses of the dodge ability when close to an enemy, which provides a different but still useful advantage. The return of the Radiant Dance Machines is similar to the return of other Destiny items in Destiny 2, with properties or mechanics typically changed between the two titles. For example, Bungie recently revealed that Destiny's beloved Gjallarhorn rocket launcher will return in Destiny 2 as a part of Bungie's thirty-year anniversary event in December.

A report from Kotaku now reveals that Bungie has banned the Radiant Dance Boots from Destiny 2's player vs player modes. The unique exotic footwear appears balanced on its own, but when combined with specific other items the boots can grant players an unfair advantage. For example, the Dynamo mod gives players super energy when they dodge, and combined with the ability to repeatedly dodge using the Radiant Dance Boots, this could allow for extremely powerful builds. The boots are still usable outside of PvP, and it is likely that Bungie will now tweak their abilities in order to make them suitable for all game modes.

Destiny 2 Season of the Worthy PVP

While Bungie continues to bring back Destiny items for inclusion in Destiny 2, the multiplayer first-person shooter will also be receiving some brand-new content. The upcoming Destiny 2 expansion, The Witch Queen, will release in February 2022 with a host of new story and gameplay additions. The expansion will be set within the gloomy Savathûn’s Throne World and will include a new Glaive melee weapon. A new weapon crafting system will also allow players to change their weapons' stats, mods and shaders at their leisure. The Witch Queen Savathûn has played a large role in the lore of Destiny 2, and so the expansion's story is expected to be quite exciting for the franchise's fans.

The Radiant Dance Boots seem quite unique, but otherwise inoffensive to the balance of Destiny 2. However, players of the sci-fi looter shooter are experts at combining different pieces of gear in order to create powerful and unexpected results. While players can still enjoy the fancy footwear's super dodging properties in PvE modes, Bungie will need to make some changes in order to make them suitable for PvP play.
