Throughout the limited time of the annual Solstice event in Destiny 2, Guardians can work to fully upgrade their set of Candescent armor by getting a lot of the three new event currencies. A new Solstice armor set is a standard piece of the event every year, and this year's armor is the centerpiece of Event Challenges, currencies, and the Bonfire Bash activity in the EAZ. However, because Solstice is only taking place in-game for three weeks, Guardians only have until the weekly reset on August 9 before they lose the opportunity to upgrade their Candescent armor set of 2022.

Guardians will only be able to upgrade four of the five pieces of their newly acquired Solstice armor in Destiny 2, namely the helmet, gauntlets, chest, and leg armor. The class item doesn't have the same upgradeable slots as the rest of the armor pieces that allow them to be rerolled with different, often better, stats. Although players may find their Solstice armor to be significantly lower in stats than the builds they've been using for a long time, the ultimate goal of upgrading the Candescent armor is to give Guardians the chance of having incredibly high stat armor that will work across a variety of endgame builds.

To acquire the Candescent armor set, Guardians will first need to speak with Eva Levante in the Tower to receive all five pieces. Afterward, they'll need to finish the Celebrating Solstice quest, which can take roughly 25 minutes to complete and introduces the main features of Solstice. Once the quest is completed, the new Solstice Event Challenges in Destiny 2 will be unlocked, allowing Guardians to acquire the Kindling currency that is used to upgrade the Candescent armor.

Acquiring more Kindling for armor upgrades is only part of the challenge, however, as players will still need to acquire Silver Leaves and Silver Ash. Silver Leaves can be obtained from almost any activity in Destiny 2, provided players are wearing at least one piece of the Candescent armor set while finishing any activity. For this reason, the class item is the best option to use for players who don't want to sacrifice their builds, as it can be Masterworked without negatively impacting anything.

Conversely, Guardians can only get Silver Ash in Destiny 2 by converting Silver Leaves after finishing the Bonfire Bash activity while wearing Candescent armor, and interacting with the bonfire itself. Players will want to wear the full set of armor during this activity to get as much Silver Ash as possible. Each armor upgrade requires more Kindling and Silver Ash than the previous stage, so it will take time to fully upgrade a complete set of Candescent armor.
