In Destiny 2, the Crown of Sorrow is the Season of the Haunted vendor that players can upgrade to increase several reward options. Located in the H.E.L.M., the Crown of Sorrow has Derelict Leviathan Bounties, Opulent and Haunted weapons, and more items for players to purchase as they unlock some of the upgrades. Similar to the War Table options available during the Season of the Risen, players will need to earn a unique material called Figments of Darkness in order to get the best upgrades.

With the right Crown of Sorrow upgrades, players can accomplish things such as focusing an Umbral Engram into a Deepsight weapon every week, like the Austringer Hand Cannon in Destiny 2. This makes the process of unlocking weapon patterns much easier than simply relying upon random luck, as all players have the ability to get a Deepsight variation of any Opulent or Haunted weapon shown in the Crown of Sorrow by completing several activities aboard the Derelict Leviathan. However, Figments of Darkness are rare to come by as the only sources seem to be from the Crown of Sorrow and certain seasonal challenges.

The Crown of Sorrow has a similar linear path of unlockable upgrades as some of the other vendors in the game such as Zavala and Shaxx, and Figments of Darkness can be earned by increasing the vendor rank. In the Season of the Haunted week one challenges, there is only one challenge that rewards a Figment of Darkness. This will likely be the case when a new set of challenges are issued upon the weekly reset as well. Fortunately, the Crown of Sorrow rank can be reset once players hit rank 16, and it may include more Figmanets of Darkness as well.

The Best Crown Of Sorrow Upgrades To Get First In Destiny 2

While there are 18 total upgrades that players can choose from, there are really only 12 that need to be prioritized. Though many players have likely already invested an upgrade into the first or second Vestiges of Dread upgrades, the entire line can be safely avoided. While the Vestiges of Dread upgrades do increase the amount that a player can hold, along with the resources from where they can be obtained, the weapon upgrades will help players obtain patterns more quickly. Currently, Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit activities in Destiny 2 reward 240 Vestiges of Dread each time an activity is completed, making it easy to get the material just by completing weekly activities. Players that want to make the most of the rewards they can get from the Crown of Sorrow and Derelict Leviathan should, in order, select the following below:

  • 1. Sever Boss High Stat
  • 2. Umbral Energy Chests
  • 3. Treasurer Bonus Rewards
  • 4. Haunted Armor Focusing
  • 5. Opulent Deepsight
  • 6. Opulent Weapon Focusing
  • 7. Sever Deepsight
  • 8. Umbral Binding
  • 9. Focusing Deepsight
  • 10. Haunted Weapon Focusing
  • 11. Focusing Double Perk
  • 12. Umbral Rift
