Paper Mario: The Origami King is the first entry in the series to feature a wheel-based battle system. In every battle, players will need to solve a simple puzzle to be successful in the fight. As the game goes on, these puzzles will become more and more challenging. It's extremely satisfying to line-up all the enemies in a single turn and knock them all away. Boss fights take this system but do it in reverse, as the boss is now at the center of the wheel. Mario will need to navigate to the center by spinning the wheel and making a path to do damage. The Scorching Sandpaper Desert is one of the earlier destinations in the game. Here's where players can find all 4 Desert Eyes.

Here are the locations of all 4 Desert Eyes in Paper Mario: The Origami King.

  • Desert Eye 1: The Diamond Jewel: The first tower is in the Northwest section of the map. There will be an inscription stating "To find my eye would be a feat... unless you look around my feet". Now head inside the tower and into the basement to find the left foot. Professor Toad will dig to find the Diamond Jewel. Place the Jewel in its proper location upstairs.
  • Desert Eye 2: The Triangle Jewel: This one is located in Scorching Sandpaper West. The second tower will read "Beneath the feet of twins entwined in needles, there, the eye you'll find!" Head to the east to find cacti that face each other. Dig here to find the jewel. Place it in the proper location.
  • Desert Eye 3: The Round Jewel: Go to Snif City and speak with Snifit by the leftmost gate. He will take the player to Scorching Sandpaper Far West. The clue this time is "Eclipse the sun above the lake... A buried eye is yours to take!". Now, head back to Snif City and head to the green area below the lake. Look into the water and place Mario so the Royal Hotel covers the sun. This is the location of the Round Jewel. Place it in the tower.
  • Desert Eye 4: The Square Jewel: Speak with the Snifit at the rightmost gate of Snifit City. This will bring Mario to Scorching Sandpaper Far East. Climb the tower to get this clue. "Near walls of waves, a fire's place... An eye is there, by earth encased!". Now head to Scorching Sandpaper Minor. This location will be full of Boos. Examine the ruins and find one with a wave symbol. Inside will be a fireplace with the Square Jewel inside of it. Place it in its location to complete the quest.
