Deon Derrico from Doubling Down With Derricos is reality TV’s new favorite dad. “Many parents know with just one child, two children, it’s a job. But when you have 14—soon-to-be 14—it’s a job,” says Deon in the TLC show’s trailer. But being responsible for a family of 16 is no laughing matter! Doubling Down With Derricos fans are curious about Deon Derrico’s job. Here’s everything to know about Deon’s career – which at one time also included Rocky Balboa.

Forty-nine-year-old Deon and 40-year-old Karen with their 14 children are TLC’s newest big family on Doubling Down with Derricos. The couple, based in Las Vegas, currently, has given birth to four sets of multiples including quintuplets, triplets, and two pairs of twins. The reality show documents their lives during and after the birth of their new triplets, who are born prematurely under unfortunate circumstances. The Derrico family still manages to sail through with a smile and viewers love them for this very simplicity and humbleness. The credit goes to Deon and Karen’s parenting skills which everyone can take a page out of. While the stay at home mom looks after the Derrico’s organized routines, father Deon is a real estate investor who doubles up as their driver, chef, and even hairstylist! Many loved the haircuts Deon gave to the children in episode 1 of Doubling Down with Derricos, and as it turns out, they looked professional because of his past experience as a salon owner.

According to Deon’s IMDb page, the Derrico dad was born and raised in inner-city Detroit. His father Eddie Derrico owned a construction company and mother Marian (who’s now known as Gigi on the TLC show) owned a hair salon and lived in Las Vegas, as per the mini-biography seemingly written in 2010. The report states that Deon’s parents divorced when he was 13 and he studied drama at the famous Cooley High School in Detroit. His acting chops and “handsome face” landed him the lead role in Not Another Gospel Play. “He later became a hairstylist and salon owner and owned and operated other small businesses to support his acting career,” says the write-up. Deon has also worked as a bus driver during this time, which was mentioned in the Review Journal about his 2014 estate fraud charges. The report mentions how he met his adopted son Derron while driving a school bus. It also had Derron, then 22 and estranged, accusing his father of fraud, but the charges against Deon were dropped later in 2018. The IMDb page also talks about the Doubling Down With Derricos father meeting Karen in 2002 and her working at a Las Vegas daycare center named after their daughter Darian.

At the time of the bio being written, Deon was said to be living in Hollywood, California, and establishing his company Deon Derrico Entertainment. “The umbrella corporation for a wide-ranging company offering acting classes, a talent agency, as well as the production of film and television programming,” it reads. As per TVShowsAce, the company was “registered with The Office of the California Secretary of State in about 2012." The report claims that the company now shows as “suspended” and that it operated for “four years and three months.” The Las Vegas residential address registered with the company also states that it’s under the name Deon D Derrico, the CEO of Derricodew Corporation founded in 2010. The source talks about it being a property management company which indicates that Deon has been working with real estate for a while now and continued to do so in spite of the fraud charged he was faced with.

The Doubling Down with the Derricos star also has four films listed on his IMDb page, Duress (2009), Lucky You (2007), Rocky Balboa (2006), and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous (2005) – with all having him in uncredited roles. The Derrico family first found fame when Karen gave birth to quintuplets in 2013 and was featured on The Today Show, Access Hollywood, etc. Even though Deon’s reality TV break came in much later with Doubling Down with the Derricos this year, it seems like he was, after all, destined to shine on screen!
