With season 3 of Demon Slayer slated for 2023, the popular show has, once again, become one of the most anticipated releases of its coming year.

Season 2 was similarly anticipated by the community, and the action-packed scenes with beautiful animation didn't disappoint. On top of the animation, Demon Slayer has a fantastic cast of characters with distinct personalities. Every Enneagram type is properly represented by one Demon Slayer character or another.

1: The Reformer - Shinobu

Shinobu Kocho in Demon Slayer

Shinobu is one of two Hashira arguably more popular than Tanjiro, the other being Giyuu. The Insect Hashira is one of the fastest characters in the show.

Shinbou fits the Enneagram 1 Reformer moniker well. She's constantly at battle within her own morals about how Hashira should behave with demons. Her sister, Kanae, took pity on demons and hoped that some could live peacefully with humans. Shinobu's moral dilemma of mixing her own principles with honoring her sister's legacy makes her one of the most fascinating characters in the series.

2: The Helper - Mitsuri

Mitsuri, the Love Hashira, is slated to be one of the main supporting characters in season 3. She's one of the physically strongest Hashira, which is funny given her height and frame compared to the others.

Thus far, Mitsuri's been shown to be dedicated to the idea of love and being loved by her fellow Hashira. Almost an extreme example of Enneagram 2, The Helper, Mitsuri is this to her core. She devotes herself to her team and all she really desires in return is love and friendship. She's in some ways both the most selfless and most selfish Hashira.

3: The Achiever - Daki & Gyutaro

Daki and Gyutaro

Daki & Gyutaro are two of the best minor villlains in Demon Slayer, so far, and the pair are surprisingly similar despite their occasional sibling bickering.

Daki and Gyutaro both seem to place their value on their achievements. While there are many healthy examples of Enneagram 3 in media, Daki and Gyutaro perhaps take The Achiever moniker too far. The number of Hashira they've killed, Gyutaro's increase in status by having a beautiful sister, and Daki's status with Muzan are all central driving factors in the sibling's backstories.

4: The Individualist - Kanao

Kanao looking into the distance

Kanao and Tanjiro comprise arguably the best couple in Shonen Jump. However, she's also a fantastic character in her own right and is probably the strongest non-Hashira.

Kanao's Enneagram type is interesting because it's something that she struggles with at times. Her story is largely about finding out who she authentically is. She constantly struggles to find meaning in her life and find out who she truly is. The 4's moniker is The Individualist, and Kanao's journey toward individualism is one of the most heart-warming parts of season 1.

5: The Investigator - Giyu

Giyu pointing his sword at someone in Demon Slayer

The Water Hashira is the most adaptive, and possibly the number one overall Hashira in a jack-of-all-trades sense. He's also arguably the most important Hashira in the story.

Giyu is arguably the most cerebral fighter in Demon Slayer, but he has 5-like qualities aside from his intelligence. Giyu's greatest tragedy is also related to his own competence: his desire to become stronger after losing his friend Sabito. Giyu's drive to become better intellectually and in his skill makes him perfect for The Investigator moniker of Enneagram 5.

6: The Loyalist - Zenitsu

Zenitsu about to unwield his sword in Demon-Slayer

The one-trick-pony Demon Slayer Zenitsu is a master of Thunder Breathing's first form. However, it's the only form that he can properly use in combat.

Zenitsu is incredibly powerful when asleep, but when he's awake, he mostly focuses on two things: finding a wife and his fear of demons. Zenitsu's anxious, security-oriented nature makes him a dead-on 6. He even fits the "loyalist" nickname, as he's incredibly devoted to Tanjiro and Nezuko -- partially because he wants to marry Nezuko, but also because he's a loyal companion to the Kamado family.

7: The Enthusiast - Tengen

Tengen Uzui was one of the major supporting characters of Demon Slayer's second season. The Sound Hashira made a huge impression in his battle with Upper Moon 6, Gyutaro.

Few characters deserve the "enthusiast" nickname more than Tengen. Along with his wives, Tengen's desire is to live a life of peace and freedom after finally defeating an upper rank demon. He's also an enthusiastic, flashy character who makes the most fun that he can out of every situation.

8: The Challenger - Inosuke

Inosuke spreading his arms in Demon Slayer.

The inventor of Beast Breathing is one of the best comedic relief characters in the anime, but he also has epic moments that solidify him as one of Demon Slayer's best.

Inosuke's constant need to prove himself against others makes him a perfect fit for Enneagram 8, The Challenger. He's confident, perhaps over-confident, in his abilities and attempts to show others that skill at every opportunity. Just as he was when he challenged Tanjiro to a fight in his debut episode, Inosuke's confrontational nature never really cooled down.

9: The Peacemaker - Tanjiro

Tanjiro in a forest surrounded by vibrant purple leaves in Demon Slayer.

Tanjiro Kamado is the protagonist of Demon Slayer and the only character to have mastered two separate breathing types: Water Breathing and Sun Breathing.

Tanjiro perfectly fits the definition of a peacemaker. He dedicates himself to his sister and friends before himself. His main goal is to bring peace back to the world by defeating Muzan and is willing to sacrifice himself in order to help restore peace.
