Demon Slayer season 2 is officially on the way, and here's everything currently known about the release date and story details. When the popular manga was adapted into an anime in 2019, season 1 was met with wide acclaim and high reviews. The sequel movie, Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train, was a true blockbuster, becoming the top-grossing film in Japan. And with the manga concluding, Demon Slayer fans have been eagerly awaiting the next installment.

Demon Slayer season 1 followed Tanjiro Kamado on his journey as a new demon slayer in search of a cure that could return his sister, Nezuko, from her demon state. Along the way, he encountered both demons and demon slayers that helped him and Nezuko hone their skills. The end of Demon Slayer season 1 found Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke traveling on a mission to the Mugen Train fresh from their rehabilitation training.

Then later on, Mugen Train saw Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke join the Flame Hashira Kyōjurō Rengoku to slay a demon who had taken out more than 40 demon slayers on a moving train. Once on the train, they encountered multiple members of the Twelve Kizuki- Enmu, the Lower Rank One, and Akaza, the Upper Moon Three - despite slaying Enmu and stopping the train, Kyōjurō's life was lost before Akaza safely retreated. But despite Kyōjurō's death, Tanjiro declared him the proper winner in light of Akaza's cowardice. Now there's an opportunity to continue the story in Demon Slayer season 2.

Featured Demon Slayer Season 2 Trailer

Demon Slayer season 2 picks up after the sequel film and the Mugen Train Arc. The trailer teases the Entertainment District Arc, with Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke teaming up with Tengen Uzui, a Sound Hashira who was introduced in season 1, as they enter the Yoshiwara red-light district. A poster for Demon Slayer season 2 featuring Tengen was posted on the series' official Twitter account, highlighting his major role in season 2.

Not many plot details have been officially released, but fans can expect Demon Slayer season 2 to feature more urban environments over the wilderness of season 1, putting the demon slayers on a new playing field as they fight in unfamiliar territory. While the Demon Slayer season 2 trailer mostly features familiar faces, it also has a mysterious woman who may play the season's major villain. Season 1 covered 50 chapters of the manga - the Entertainment District Arc is comprised of only 29 chapters, meaning Demon Slayer season 2 may cover multiple arcs, or original content if season 2 follows the same 26-episode formula.
