Demon Slayer Anime

If you’re still sad about the megahit manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ending, we have some fantastic news for you! On Thursday, February 4th, a brand new Demon Slayer fan book shipped in Japan containing three brand new one-shot manga chapters including one titled Report on Tanjiro's Present Condition (Japanese title: Tanjirō no Kinkyō Hōkokusho) which takes place after the conclusion of the main story!

Demon Slayer started as a manga series created by Koyoharu Gotouge. It began serializing in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020 and was collected in 23 volumes (the last of which hit store shelves in Japan in December 2020). The manga is being released in English by Viz Media, who has released 20 volumes as of February 2021. In 2019 the series was adapted into an anime by studio ufotable before also receiving a movie adaptation (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train) in 2020 which, at one point, was the highest-grossing movie at the time in the entire world. The movie later became the highest-grossing movie of all time in Japan, beating out the classic Spirited Away.

The period action-drama story follows a young man named Tanjiro who is training to become a demon slayer after his family is brutally murdered by demons. The lone survivor, his sister, was changed into a demon though, so his real primary mission is to find a way to turn her back into a human.

Along with the previously mentioned one-shot which focuses on the characters after the manga’s conclusion, there will be two other brand new stories: Breaking! Hell Demon Report ~ Crossing the Far Shore ~ (Totsugeki!! Jigoku no Onitorizai ~ Sanzunokawa o Koete ~) which will focus on the demons after “that time” and a third brand new chapter titled The Foundation of Kimetsu (Kimetsu no Dodai) which will be the author sharing behind-the-scenes stories from when the series was being serialized. Also included in the fan book will be three one-shot chapters that were previously released in theaters and in issues of Weekly Shonen Jump.

If you’re a manga fan (and possibly even if you’re not), you’ve no doubt at least heard of Demon Slayer at this point, as it was easily one of the most popular series in the world not so long ago. If you’re collecting the Demon Slayer manga, you will undoubtedly want to get your hands on this release if they make it available in your country. This is definitely one of those items that die-hard fans will probably pay top dollar for, and with so much good stuff included within its pages, it’s easy to see why!
