Demon Slayer is one of the most popular Shonen Jump properties every created. The manga has shattered sales records, the anime has reached rare levels of international popularity partially thanks to Netflix, and its film has set box office records in Japan and will soon hit American theaters. Considering Demon Slayer's immense successes, the fact that it's getting its own video game some time in the next year should not come as much of a surprise. The world of Demon Slayer is filled with rich and colorful characters, but despite being announced a little over a year ago, Demon Slayer: The Video Game's full roster still has yet to be announced.

The story of Demon Slayer follows young Tanjiro Kamado and his sister, Nezuko, who has been turned into a demon. After finding his entire family has been murdered, Tanjiro sets out to join the Demon Slayer corp in hopes of finding a cure to turn his sister back into a human. Tanjiro quickly discovers that the man who killed his family and changed his sister is the leader of the demon world, Muzan Kibutsuji. He vows to to defeat Kibutsuji and rid the world of the demon's curse once and for all.

Tanjiro and Nezuko meet tons of interesting and exciting characters over the course of their journey. Some are good, some are bad, but nearly all of them would make worthy additions to Demon Slayer: The Video Game. It's difficult to tell how large the final roster will be considering the lack of information currently available on the game, but so far, five Demon Slayer characters have been confirmed. The characters already announced fall a little bit more on the obvious side, but that just leaves the more exciting (and surprising) characters to be announced at a later date. Here is every character that has already been confirmed for Demon Slayer: The Video Game.

Every Confirmed Character in Demon Slayer: The Video Game

Demon Slayer the Video Game
  • Tanjiro Kamada
  • Nezuko Kamada
  • Inosuke Hashibira
  • Zenitsu Agatsuma
  • Giyu Tomioka

These five characters essentially represent Demon Slayer's core cast and are logical choices as the first characters announced for the game. Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu are the main group the series follows, while Tomioka is the first Demon Slayer Tanjiro meets and helps put the entire story into motion. Tomioka is also on the Ten Hashira, the strongest of all the Demon Slayers. The Hashira would make welcomed additions to the roster, but it's hard to say if they will actually be included. Demon Slayer: The Video Game will follow the events of the anime's first season, and while the Hashira have already been introduced in the anime, their fighting styles and abilities have yet to be fully revealed. Although each character would be perfect for the fighting-game's roster, they may not be playable in the game to prevent any potentially spoilers.

The most notable thing about the list of confirmed characters in the Demon Slayer: The Video Game is the lack of demon representation. Tanjiro and his friends defeat several powerful demons over the course of the anime's first season. While including every demon from the anime's first 26 episodes would be somewhat pointless as many aren't very prominent, the more memorable ones will likely make their way onto the game's roster.

Screenshots and promotional materials have already highlighted demons such as Kyogai, the drum demon, Susamaru, the handball demon, and Rui, the first member of the Twelve Kizuki that Tanjiro must face. All three will more than likely find their way onto the game's roster as well as several others demons, but how many others is difficult to tell. All of the Twelve Kizuki, aside from Rui, will probably be held from the game's roster to prevent spoilers (similar to the Hashira) so it will be interesting to see which other demons will be playable. Fans eager to find out more about Demon Slayer's upcoming video game should keep an eye out for new trailers, as the game is currently set for a 2021 release.
